what an awesome qualifying session that was , the last lap of the session and Bourdais takes pole from AJ , I so wanted Allmendinger to get his first pole , but it wasnt to be.
But he is getting better and better each time out and surely must be within a chance of taking a pole or win this year if he can get everything just perfect. well done to him and well done to Bourdais on racking up yet another Pole position. |

Marcus, maybe you could add this thread to your "Montreal Starting Grid" thread?

Good looking grid. Please recheck the Philippe position though - I'm still pinching myself, but it isn't working.
Help! Somebody wake me up!!! |

Maybe Nelson is applying his pent up anger for us here at Ten-Tenths into his driving?! And to think all this time Liz and drivergrOupie had us believing we weren't being nice to him and we had no part in helping him out.....in our own indirect manner of course.

Seb really seems to be acing qualifying at the moment, but great to see AJ and Mario so high up. Jourdain's dismal run of form continues on a track where he won last year.
Good effort from Philippe - if he can keep it together in ther ace I'll be pleased for him. |

The fact that this only the first time Mario haberfeld is starting 17th is true testament to his talent even if he is saddled with that reynard. As for Michel each week my expectations for him get lower and lower.

Hi Marcus, you mentioned above that Nelson's starting position (P13) for tomorrow's race was the best of his career, but I had a feeling this might be wrong so I went over to CCWS.com and sure enough I found this..... Denver GP.

Dov, those were the qualifying positions form a single session, not the combined final grid positions.
Haberfeld has done pretty well over the season, as you say. Unusual to see him so far down - indeed, I wonder if Reynard have ever had their highest-starting car as far down as 17th? |

I don't like to dwell on negatives, but ............... how can Mazzacane be that bad?
Well done AJ! |

I don't know that much about Gaston so I can't really say. He drove for Minardi in F1, right?! Did he outperform his teammate(s) at Minardi? Has he ever driven for a better team and how did he perform in his F3000 days??

Badly. He has only ever performed badly.
"Moneybags" has always bought himself seats and everyone has said he will improve, given time. That time is up I'm afraid, Gaston ...... you are the weakest link. |

I agree mac, but until more teams and drivers join the series (next year at the earliest), we may need Gaston to stick around to fill out the required 18 starting grid.

Almost forgot to say how well Mario Dominguez did I'm sure he will have a real chance at winning.

Phew you had me worried there for a minute Dov about Phillipe's qualifying position , but yes that was just a single session and the 13th he has this weekend is his best so far
interesting helmet from Jourdain there , I wonder why the change ? they havent updated it on the spotter's guide as yet that is why I still have his old one above. what can you say about Bourdais , simply superb 11th pole from just 28 starts , I hope AJ can take it up to him this weekend. |

I've found it interesting that quiet often with the Herdez drivers, one will do well, one will be substantially behind. Can't figure that one out.
I would love it if AJ beat Bourdais to the first corner. Realistically he's not going to pull away, but he could still win. As for Haberfeld, I like the guy and I think he's good, but I will mention that he's capable of better than being second last even in his Reynard. Manning, Haberfeld, Jimmy and RHR put in some impressive Reynard performances last year and the first two were rutinely hunting down Lola drivers. I'm not critisizing his performance this time, but he's done more. Lap times would be down due to the conditions. For all of you who didn't get to watch qualifying on TV I'll mention that PT had a rather bizar problem. In many open wheel cars and even road bikes the engine is used as a structural member. PT taped the wall and cracked his engine block! |
