Timing Solutions Limited
It seems as if MST has changed it's name to Timing Solutions Ltd (TSL):
http://www.tsl-timing.com/home.asp Their site now also carries their F1 testing details. Does anyone know anything about the reasons for the change of name? P.S. I didn't really know what forum to put this in, but I thought that National Racing seemed best! |

Presumably because they want to "diversify into other markets" (I just made that up, it's not a quote), not just motorsport. I.e. athletics, etc., where the name "Motor Sports Timing" wouldn't be appropriate.
However, perhaps it would have been better to just create a parent company.. |

Don't they already have a parent company - MST Systems Ltd? They do the international events such as WTCC/FIA GT and according to their website (www.mstworld.com) also do such things as golf, football, windsuefing and greyhound racing.
Hadn't realised golf needed timing |

Sounds like a good excuse to make us all buy new transponders.

I always figured MST Systems was more of a 'sister' company - i.e. they supply some equipment, and MST Timing does the actual operating of such..
Or maybe I've misunderstood the family tree. Either way, as long as they're not charging us more, I don't really give a tinker's cuss. |

Dunno. I assumed because MST Systems do the big events they were the parent.

MST Systems still exist, based in Malvern, Worcestershire, doing FIA GT & FIA WTCC timing and building timing equipment.
They used to be "sister" companies, but split sometime around 2003 when MST Sports Timing Ltd (now TSL) opened offices in Tamworth, Staffs. |
