AIR News
Word has it that Adelaide International Raceway is currently being completely resurfaced.
My spy tells me that as of yesterday morning the front straight drag strip had been completed and the rest of the circuit and pit lane was to follow over the next few days. It's all looking good for the AMRC round to be held there in late July and hopefully will open the door for more events to be held at the circuit which is on Adelaide's northern suburban outskirts. |

Looking forward to July to see the track. I haven't been out to AIR since the demise of level 1 drag racing.

crikey, it would be an expensive job to get it up to standards required for circuit work. Good on Bob if he does it.

Does anyone know if there are plans to run drag racing there again as well as the AMRS round?

Not organised drag racing I imagine due to Jane's long running animosity (please don't start a blame thread) towards ANDRA. Look at what runs at Calder for examples of what will be possible.

Is ANDRA the Drag equivalent of CAMS? In which case, if there was a business case for it, Jane could create and run his own Drag series using a similar concept to that behind the AMRS/ASSA etc.
And I mean no offence to ANDRA for the potential comparison to CAMS.... (I know nothing of their politics, much less whether there exists a support base for a competing organisation) |

Yes ANDRA is the CAMS (note no $, being serious here) of the drag scene. I don't think that having a series on only two strips would be attractive to a competitor. The Friday Night Drags that Calder have mainly attract off-street competitors, who probably wouldn't go interstate to get something that they can get an hour from home.

I believe by sinking in it's more a case of the machine tore up some of the track and it will need the road base redone and then the bitumen laid to fix it properly. |

Does anyone have a layout of the track?
I've only ever seen the strip. |

STEALTHY, There's a great satellite photo included here:http://www.gdecarli.it/php/index.php?var1=1&var2=2
If all else fails to go to the home page and search for Australia tracks: http://www.gdecarli.it/ |

I used to enjoy watching the auscars and nascars tackling the short oval back in the mid to late 90's.

The track is much more fun than the aerial shot suggests.
Turn one is tricky because as you go from a wide drag strip width section to a narrow width road course section, with the apex hard to pick as entry speed is fairly quick. Most of the back section flows nicely and is quick until you get to the tricky substantially off-cambered lefty onto the bowl. The bowl gets your attention with the unforgiving walls not too far away and a slippery exit from it due to the drag strip. The locals are very laid back and hospitable too.
