your V8 Footy team?
this came up in discusion the other day with a few mates, who would your Footy team of V8 drivers be and what position suites them. you can do your own team for any code, mine is NRL and here is my team:
1 - Fullback - Jamie Whincup - is solid at defending in racing and always reliable and pops up to take advantage of situations. 2 - Wing - Garth Tander - he is tall and interms of form you would look to the likes of Greg Inglis/Mark Gasnier etc and has pace 3 - Centre - Mark Winterbottom - has speed and always tends to turn a half break into a big break on the track. 4 - Centre - Will Davison - quick, solid, consistant and creative. 5 - Wing - Shane Van Gisbergan - tall and quick would be good diving over in the corner. 6 - Five-Eight - Rick Kelly - super consitant and reads the racing well has pace to burn. 7 - Halfback - Craig Lowndes (C) - frustrates the opersition reads everything well and has a cooll head and directs a team well. 8 - Prop - Paul Morris - loves the grubby stuff and is big and bulky. 9 - Hooker - Greg Murphy - hard racer always wants to win, bit like Corey Hughes. 10 - Prop - Steven Johnson - big, always puts in to the best of his ability. 11 - Second Row - Cameron McConville - no frills, has pace and always gets the job done. 12 - Second Row - James Courtney - very quick but not affraid to get into the dirty stuff, could push up to Prop with his hard style of play and pace after the impact first 20 minutes. 13 - Lock - Lee Holdsworth - quick would be manacing down the flanks off-loading to Winterbottom and Davison. Interchange: 14 - Russell Ingall (utility Hooker/Lock) - short annoying *******, would be good replacing Murphy in the backend of halfs adding spark out of dummy-half beating the slow forwards, could also add mungell in the middle and down the flanks at lock. 15 - Mark Skaife (Prop) - is a mungrell type racer, has plenty of heart and gives 110%. 16 - Jason Bright - (Prop/Second Row) see Skaife, but would add abit of skill with ball when injected. 17 - Fabian Coulthard (Second Row/Centre) - see McConville, could also play out wide at centre if injuries occur. I wouldn't go to a football forum and say this, but since this is a motorsport forum, here goes:
I hate football and all its incarnations. Stupid men barging into one another has no attraction for me and there are no similarities with motorsport whatsoever. As an Australian its difficult to avoid football, it is so pervasive. Please can we avoid talking about it on a motorsport forum? P.S. same goes with cricket. :P |

Obviously Australia Rules is the go ...
The team is: Ruck - Tander (he is the tallest) Rover - Bargs (he is the smallest) Ruck Rover - Murf (pretty quick and got a bit of mongrel in him) Full Back - Morris (he's not only the biggest but bound to knock any forward out of the way - and he is wide enough to cover all the space between the goals) Back pockets - Rusty (for grunt) and McConky (for the running back) Centre Half Back - Junior (2nd biggest) Back Flankers - BPB (will crack some ribs as he runs into the oppositions sides) and Toddler (always niggling) Wings - CL and JW (speed and class) Centre Half Forward - Frosty (the go-to man) Half Forwards - Lee Holdsworth and Will Davison (can kick goals if you set them up) Full Forward - Skaifey (can always kick early goals before he leaves the field) Forward Pockets - Grant Denyer and JC (can go but need a bit of luck) Interchange - Van Gisby (wet specialist), Notso (quick bursts only), Jim Richards and Bowey (for experience). Reserve - Max (in case Bargs gets injured or just lost) Water Boy - Rick Can also use Dumb Bell for weights in the gym and we can bring back Larko because he was an awesome punching bag. Coach - Dick Johnson (can deliver a spray if needed) Umpire - Colin Bond (because Aussie Rules umpires are always wrong too) Last edited by deeks6; 3 Jul 2008 at 15:41. |
