The Danish Toyota effort never had the blessing from the factory. Does Geipel?

The car looks nice but I don't think Toyota is or will be involved.

Don't believe so!

Hopefully they will show some interest when is starts performing! Geipel are leading the Procar championship with a Corolla.. Similar size car and power.

It may even fall flat.. Who knows? Lets wait and see.

Auris isn't FIA homologated... (nor is/was the Corolla).

The current Geipel Toyota Corolla is indeed national homologated and not able to score points in WTCC.

The Auris is basically the successor of the Corolla Geipel is running right now. That Corolla never really had the blessing from Toyota, I remember they had a lot of homologation troubles in Denmark where the car was developed with Toyota not wanting to send over necessary parts and papers for the homologation and so on. I hope Toyota will be a bit more cooperative with Geipel this time, if its not factory support then at least support in the homologation process by supplying the right paperwork.

That unfortunately doesnt say too much. DTM is stealing most of the limelight in Germany so Procar isn't really on the same competitive level as B/S/DTC. Eg the Swedish built Merc 200 is a podium car in Procar, but happy to even stay on the same lap as the leaders in STCC.

But in any case it's great that we will get 1 more carbrand into WTCC. A TCC should have about 10 brands to really get the right feeling IMO.

And what about S-2000 rally Auris? Isn't it homologated? May have many parts to be used in racing S-2000...

They can be a nice sparring partner for the lada's. I guess they can put about the same amount of effort in their project.

Hmm, maybe. But with small effort from Toyota the car could be very competitive...

the geipel famaily are toyota dealers,so they are directly connected to toyota. and racing in the wttcc this year to test competivity with a veiw to 2009, sounds good to me!Apparently there was a comparison test with the dtcc laccetti and there was very little in it!

In Europe hatchbacks are more populair than saloons so it's logicial they race these type of cars.

Must be similar in size to the Team Halfords Civic and the Volvo C30 in Sweden?

I guess they can switch to 4-door body any time they (Toyota) start to take it seriously.

dtcc = DTC? That sounds quite promising in that case.

Are you sure? I think I can see the rear wing over the screen. Maybe you've seen better photo than this:
