Woo-Hoo!!! Hope it's true!
Posted on the ALMS board...I can't find confirmation tho':
"Mazda confirm Lola B08/80 coupe for B-K by PLM - autosport print ed. http://www.mariantic.co.uk/lmp/ Not sure if this will put them in the Porsche/Acura league but they'll look great trying." What will the livery be, if so? |

Unless I am mistaken (which I could be), the Mazda program has been about looking good, rather then racing at the front, so this does make sense...plus we have seen that in the hands of Speedy/Sebah, the car is quick - so could be a good move on all fronts...

The Mazda program has been about not spending more money than they have, which is not a lot. Within the ALMS P2 class right now, well, that's really not good enough to run at the front. That said, they're making strides with their performance in concert with AER and, now, Dunlop. Buying a new coupe should help them step up another notch - but either Dunlop needs to raise their game or they'll be in arrears of the Michelin cars for the foreseeable future.

still wish the Rotary Mazda LMP engine was in it; what a majestic noise that thing made.
alas, here's to another fine looking Lola. hopefully a quick one to boot. |

its an artist impression from a brief given to me by Marshall, who had interviewed Mazda Msport boss, so not sure if they are going to change the livery for PLM. Would make sense to run the same design for continuity during the season IMHO.

I know a guy who drove the Kruse-Schiller Mazda at Le Mans, and the engine is really, really good.
However, the chassis was shi.. After some japanese chose to bend it.. Happy to hear, that the latest Lola B08/80 at last found a home.. |

I would like to think so, the KSM chassis is seriously finished. Even after the ever vigilant last minute Lola repairs..

Looks good!
Will we see the roofscoop removed, and a one sided periscope replace it? Actually, forget I asked, of course not. Sorry |

There would be room, but using the roof scoop the intake air would have to pass over the top of the engine, down around the exhaust manifold to the turbo and intercooler in the left sidepod, so already the charge air has been nicely heated before it reaches the turbo. It's then got to be ducted back over to the intake manifold on the other side of the engine. Having the scoop directly over the engine would also block access to the cylinder head, which isn't ideal when trying to fix an engine niggle in the middle of a race.
Surely it would be more logical to duct air directly into the turbo via a snorkel as on the current open chassis and keep the same basic engine bay layout, rather than starting again almost from scratch. |

compared to the Aston or Speedy cars, they'd have tons of room. Last edited by mpme; 2 Aug 2008 at 00:14. |

With permission from John Doonan of Mazda, we've been able to publish an official render of the B-K's new Lola B08/80. Full story here:

That rendering shows both side snorkels and the roof scoops? Or are those the rear brake ducts? Either way its a pretty sharp looking proto
