Formula Master to become GP3 for 2009?!
There are rumours that the Formula Master Series that is currently running with the Tatuus-Honda singleseaters with the WTCC could be run during the European F1 Grand Prix weekends from 2009 onwards being renamed GP3.

Would make sense to call it that, Formula Master seems a bit of an awkward name and having it on F1 weekends would make sense.
It would also allow Formula 2 to run as WTCC support. |

Afraid not, its looking like Formula Masters will be renamed F2 and GP2 will remain until the end of 2010 and then things are likely to change.

What is going to happen to Supercup or Formula BMW Europe? There is no enough time during weekends for new series?!

It would aslso make sense to have Formula Master on the F1 bill as it is one step below Gp2 on the ladder, compared to FBMW which is two steps. |

F Master as GP3?
Series is ok but why not simply have Euro F3 or an equivalent on the bill. oh no sorry, it can't be corporately renamed to GP3 can it..... Better still why not rename GP2 as F2!! Low and behold everyone will quite clearly be able to see the logical career path to F1 again. |

The problem with the Formula Master , is this serie is still very "Green". They need more stability, they started the season with 28 Cars at Valencia and they were 24 at Brands Hatch. Andersen and Nunez left Trident recently, which will probably drop again the number of car for the next race. The First season of the Formula master has been very dramatic, with so many mechanical issues. If you look at the entry list from the first season compare to this season , there are a lot of rookies. Drivers and peoples who lived the first season prefered to go for more reliable cars like Formula 3 ( Ceccotto and Frey)
As well during the first half of the 2008 season,we have seen many drivers changing of teams, a nice party of musical chair, not the best for the credibility of the championship. If you had to that, the overall level of the serie. From my opinion only few teams (JD,Cram,Jenzer,ISR,Trident) are really professionals and work on high standard of presentation, all the rest is pretty much average. It is a reality also about the drivers I think if Formula Master wants to be on the bill of the F1 GP , they got to attract more competitives teams and drivers to get more credibility Well to make it simple Formula Master is still far from the standards of professionalism and presentation fof the Formula 3 Euroseries By the way, the organisation of the Formula master, denied the project of GP3... http://www.stopandgo.tv/news/fmaster...getto-gp3.html Last edited by META4; 11 Aug 2008 at 13:09. |

http://www.racecam.de/index.php?site...ang=en&id=2316 What happened to their idea of Formula Masters being the replacement for Formula 3? If it does not become F2 next year (if it happens), I can't see Masters lasting much longer... |

i cant see Formula Master replace Formula3, Formula3 is far much more interesting for teams on the engineering point of view
Definitly Formula Master is loosing of his "superb", even more after the lost of 2 decent drivers like Andersen and Nunez, even the Formula 1 prize does not seem to motivate any driver, unless Van Der Drift who is "easily" leading the championship |

For the ones who does not understand italian, Italiaracing reports that the Formula Master will race together with F1 Circus on 5 occasions (not yet clear when). Not yet clear as well if the name of the serie will remain "Formula Master" or will become "GP3". Honda could officialy suport the serie
They mention also some new "Possible Entries" like Raikkonen Robertson Team and ART... Still no Sound from Formula 2 ... |

Funny to see that Stopandgo.tv , announced the project of GP3/Formula Master at the end of last month , then 2 days later published a press release from N-Technology denying the same project.
Then today italiaracing brings back the same news, i suspect italiaracing to try to create a "buzz" Last edited by META4; 13 Aug 2008 at 17:14. |

I guess this is merely a question of (mis)coordinating information. It will be, however the leak was not intended..
