Paul Morris Recalls the Early Days

Interesting press release on the Supercar site

http://www.v8supercar.com.au/content...ady_to_rumble/

According to the release, Paul was almost down and out 10 years ago with no drive and had to "borrow" a BMW from a "guy" to compete in the 1999 Super Touring Championship.

I wonder who the "guy" was...Terry Morris? BMW? I would have thought the shed full of BMW bits in the back yard would be a good place to start. looking for a car...particularly as the car he ran that year was on e of the ex Diet Coke cars, with Mt Cotton Wines ( now Sirromet) signage.

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Not 100% sure but I think the blokes name was Bob Love, he had a BMW dealership on the Gold Coast and was tied up with Frank Garnder at stages. Bumped into him at Bathurst with the BMW team in 1994, he was crewing for the team, and used to raced F1 Powerboats in the 90's.

Stefan Zelenak bought a couple of BMWs (including the ex-Brabham car which Morris used in 1999) for the 1998 season, perhaps he's the person who leant Morris the car?

The answer is in a 10 year old issue of MRA as I remember Morris detailing the deal then in an article about how he pulled it all together. If I can find which box I put my old MRA's in I'll dig it out.
