Britcar 1st November Donington - Cancelled! [edit - or not!]

For anyone going to this : From the Britcar website

Donington Cancelled
Due to the proposed rebuilding of the circuit at Donington, no time has been set aside by the local Council for our event in November, we have not heard from Donington Circuit, having asked non-stop for the last 6 weeks.

This race will not be replaced. All those who still have a race to finish their season need to book early for Brands Hatch.

A timetable and price will be posted in the next few days.

, thats what I say. Just as well the non refundable travelodge was not booked then and the fights and arguments I had in work to get the holidays were well worth it.

Looks like the 24hr was the last Britcar fix of 2008 - Brands is just a bit tooooo far for us lot up here at the moment.

Come to Silverstone for the two day Walter Hayes meeting. This is one of the best meetings of the year. If you can come, either 'pm' Fay or contact HSCC.

As far as I know Chris , the two day BRSCC meeting (1st and 2nd) is stil going ahead - just the Saturday evening Britcar night race is cancelled.

Thanks Dave, the BRSCC Championship Finals (including the close racing we saw at Mallory last Sunday) still need to be held. Like JT I've been waiting for some time to find out exactly what's happening and will pass on any news as soon as I can.

Thanks guys and girls for the "heads up" on this, just as well I had not booked accommodation. The Donington Park website is still allowing spectators to book tickets!!!!

So as well as jerking around national Motorsport series... they are also messing with spectators? Thats not great for the image of Motorsport. All of this for a once a year parade.

I have no ties with Donington but I don't think this change is purely down to the GP contract.

Silverstone has a provisional date on the availability list for 8th + 9th November event TBA .Perhaps various clubs could have a "clear up " meeting on that date to include the cancelled Britcar race ?

Hmm Does Anyone Know If This Meeting Is Going Ahead Or Not ?? We are Supposed To Be Doing The Saturday And Sunday,Didn`t Know Till Yesterday When Some One Mentioned, That Had Been Cancelled,Surely If Donnington Are Still Selling Tickets It`s Still on, or is that Just Me??????

From the BRSCC website...

We can now confirm that our scheduled BRSCC Championship Finals event will now take place on Saturday 1st November 2008 only. The cancellation of Sunday’s activities is due to planning problems encountered by Donington and it is with their assistance that we were able to secure our now one day event.

Obviously many of our championships were due to run double headers at this event and to now try and fit all scheduled races into one day would prove impossible. We have been discussing this matter with the MSA, but as yet we have no definitive answer as to how races will now be scheduled. At this stage we are hopeful that a compromise may be reached which will see all championships which were due to run still take an active part in the revised event.
