CAMS pays their way at Bathurst
Was that Mr Osborne queueing to get in?
VESA pulls CAMS passes? CAMS & VESA in dispute over their product? No passes required if you pay at the gate like we punters !!! |

Time for CAMS to say "Good night" to the V8 circus?

According to my sources, and they're fairly high up within the V8 scene, Tony wants to professionalise the trackside marshals and also wants V8SA to have more input into the running of the meeting and a say in formulating regs for support categories which he sees as letting the side down. He's especially scathing of some of the CAMS regs that restrict drivers from doing burn-outs and doughnuts which he sees as an important part of the show. Getting all the legal stuff sorted to make it happen will be a main part of the job for the new CEO. |

VESA also rejected Peter McKay's application for a press pass. Ticks the box of being an employee at a national motoring magazine. But VESA believe not all publicity is good publicity.

You really think its OK for any organisation to deliberately try and gag journo's? Its absolutely pathetic that the 'world according to VESA' is all they allow to be written...... |

It is about time they started paying, every other ******* is paying them for everything under the sun, from fines to licence fees to track fees.

If Peter McKay ragged on my cooking for years, why would I invite him over for dinner?
If he wanted to attend I'm sure he could... just he'd have to sit in the car with his wireless dongle instead of enjoying the AC and free cans of Pepsi in the media centre... |

They can ask for the renter to use accredited security, first aid and other services (perhaps even catering) but in the Mt Panorama case I don't think the council could stop VE$A from using, say, AASA to provide their insurance and VE$A provides their own regulations. |

Big difference between the MCG and Mt Panorama though.
MCG is privately owned and controlled by the owners. Mt Panorama is a public road and all racing is covered by an Act of Parliament! |

Either way V8SC treatment of Peter McKay and others that don't tow the party line is a disgrace but an even bigger disgrace is the cowardice of the mainstream motorsport media who haven't gone into bat for their colleague. When Bernie tried this with a US reporter at Indy the entire US media contingent declared the event black and walked out. The next morning Bernie was in the Press Centre making a grovelling apology. BTW there is no such thing as "Freedom of the Press" here in Australia, in fact Australia's media is amongst the most restricted and regimented anywhere in the western world. |

And please don’t roll out the timeless whinge about the freedom of the press, its almost like parliamentary privileged, a joke. P.S If I have said anything in my comments above that offends anyone or comes across as demanding anyone tow the line, I wish to say that it was taken out of context and its not my fault... |

Don't ever expect them (although Brett, you are an exception) to criticise the hands that feed them. For example, I don't think I have ever read a balanced article in the specialist press about the pros and cons of street circuits and the effect they have on permanent facilities. |

McKay is entitled to his opinion but it seems VESA only want media they are prepared to print their press releases word by word, something that the telegraph has perfected. The motorsport media does toe the v8 line to the detriment of the industry. Even the once hard hitting journo Mark Fogarty in a recent AA interview sat through a Cochrane Interview and didnt have any follow up questions to of his answers, despite many of them not adding up. |

VESA's attitude of "only write positive things about us, or you don't get a media pass" is absolutely pathetic and shows contempt for the public by vigorously trying to stop any negative or critical articles being written.
Its typical of the complete arrogance of that organisation. |
