Rafale Raceway

I had intended to go the full 3D on this as you can tell by the paddock details, but I don't seem to have the time to mess about with it these days.

I'll post a breakdown of some of the different variations later, but here is the full layout.
For scale the long straight from just before the bridge to the hairpin is 1145m, which can only be utilised in full, by one one layout and that uses the Northern Pitlane.

The Southern Pit straight 834m
The Northern Pit straight 488m.

The circuit is drawn 14m wide.

xlr8r should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
This track doesn't make much sense. You have 2 pits but both can't be used simultaneously on 2 different layouts. So why have 2 pits? You have a cross over but none of the layouts can be a figure eight. So why have the crossover? All of the layouts are considerably long. There seems to be no short, medium or long layouts. They are all about the same length.

Some of the corners are interesting but the rest of it is just too confusing.

The original plan was to have it as a testing venue. but it rather out grew that.
If memory serves (I'm just home) I think there is at least 9 possible configurations with the shortest using the Northern Pit actually using the full straight. The Shortest of the Southern pit versions uses most of the Straight. Both measure just over 2 miles.

I can't remember the distance on the longest one but it does involve using the cross over, and can be operated from either pitlane. And to edit my original post The longest configuration also uses the full length of the straight.

Edit: Images of the two shortest and the longest versions added...sorry for lack of contrast between active and not used tracks, too tired to open up Sketchup tonight to re-do them.

Ok, I now see how the crossover is used. But the track still seems unnecessarily convoluted

Conceptually, this track is a nice idea. But would I empty a spot in the calendar of the Other World(ly) Series for one of these layouts? I'm afraid not. Sorry.

But as a testing facility, Rafale Raceway should be great.
