Query on a forgotten Circuit
Hi to all motorsport fans
I was having a chat with a fellow at work the other day and he mentioned to me this old circuit he used to hang out at in Berkshire. He didn't know its name and is not a fan of motorsport but when i mentioned I was. I said I would look it up but to no evail. This cicuit is lost in a forest and this would have been in the late 80's early 90's when he was a kid. Do you guys have any ideas. It is possible this was a testing facity as it has a banked curve and a sloping section of track and is wide enough for cars to pass. This is in the UK. Thanks Roadtonowhere |

That might be Longcross you're thinking of Al - Qinetic run vehicle proving ground. I've done a few single venue rallies there, good fun but it can bite back hard. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&so...38495&t=h&z=15 |

Longcross/Chobham - used to do lots of manufacturer days there - banked first corner - lots of quick corner - no run off - very dangerous - but would be great to take something quick around there..

Also used for car chases and accident scenes in a lot of old films.

I suspect the OP means TRL Crowthorne which is still up and running
http://www.trl.co.uk/facilities/test_track_road_system/ Longcross, next to the M3, is in Surrey I think, and as well as holding single venue rallies is IMO possibly the best sprint course in the country. Unfortunately the venue is now lost due to uneconomic site rental increases. http://www.scmc.co.uk/Scorpion_09/Scorpion_09_home.htm |

My wife lived in Crowthorne. The house overlooked the TRL site...
I know nothing else of interest, just kinda coincidental. |

BMW used TRL to store cars a few years ago. Chobham gets used for filming car promo vids and adverts still.
