Yoong Montoya should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Greatest comeback ever?

I have 3 favourites, all of which are comebacks over a season to win the title:

1. Colin Edwards World Superbikes 2002
2. Ryuichi Kiyonari British Superbikes 2006
3. Gregorio Lavilla British Superbikes 2005

Any other favourites? You can include races as well btw.

Rainey, 1992 500cc... aided by Doohan's injury of course, but Rainey was knocked about abit too, and it was a difficult year for the team, running Michelin's.

As for career comebacks, its hard to go past Mike Hailwood at the 1978 TT

I forgot to mention my favourite comeback in a race - Leon Haslam Croft British Superbikes 2006.

At the 100th anniversary of the TT, in 2007, I ended up pushing that bike around, and got to start it a couple of times. When we were carting it around, people kept saying "a ragged replica", and we kept telling them it wasn't a replica. Was there with Steve Wynne, the guy who built it for the race. Hailwood's son was there, but couldn't ride the demo lap because his license wasn't current.
