Hi Nick, if they've not swapped back to the original grid (I believe they are waiting for the new gantry to be built) it's bleeding hard work at Silverstone at the moment. Starting races from the gantry outside the pit office and then getting back to the usual flag point in time to put out the safety car flags and boards if there is a problem.
We ran an awful lot last weekend.... |

Follolwing a late change of plan (not mine, the organisers!) I shall be giving up Saturday at Thruxton for the two days at Silverstone. Looking forward to seeing the new bits and what is happening generally.

I'm going to be there, tickets arrived today - staying in Oxford... anyone know how long a drive it is from there [not relying on a computer, I wants a human]

From the West / North I'd probably nip up the A34, 1 junction of M40, off at fire damaged Cherwell Services, A43 to the Brackley, then Silverstone. Coming from the East of Oxford, you'd probably join the M40 a bit further down. Based on Milton Keynes to North Hinksey of approx 60 mins, I'd suggest you're run would be a bit under the hour mark, well under if you're starting from close to the M40? |

I know there's a long running debate on phones v radios for PC, but I've enjoyed seeing the guvnors out walking amongst the troops (and passing on info / advice) rather than having to stay within arms reach of the landline. Now, any thoughts on the weather? Looks excessively damp for Sat, but ok for Sun. http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/5000 |

Great weekend up at Silverstone. Shame that there weren't more Chevrons [what a bore that was with only 6 of them]. I may be able to make a couple more trips this year all going well. Actually if things go really well, I won't be able to, but you know what I mean!

A straight-in introduction for some of the trainees on a have-a-look-around day who came to help out with pits/start line in the afternoon, especially for the one who had a car reverse into him on the grid on basically his first time out - we had a doc check him out as he was suffering from some effects, but he was back out with us in next to no time. Otherwise, a good weekend, I think...almost forgotten about the rain already. |
