Van Diemen RF84 Front Suspension
I wonder if anyone can help, I competed in a Sprint at the weekend and the Scrutineer wasnt happy with the front suspension on my car, it is standard as it left the factory with the springs at the side of your legs with a cover over the bottom half and the anti-roll bar above the drivers legs. He said there must be a cover (aluminium plate etc) covering the suspension parts. Luckily for me there was another identical car with the same set up and he said we could both run but if he saw the cars again the same he wouldnt let us compete. I could make and fit an aluminium plate but I feel it will limit the room for my legs and make it more difficult for me to get out quickly in an emergency (I am 6 feet 4 inches). Has anyone else got a similar car and had the same problem, I have E-mailed the technical department at the MSA and are awaiting there reply.

I had one of those cars once but I think it had a wee moulded cover that kept your legs off the springs to some extent. I do remember the bruises after about 10 laps! I dont think the cover was fiberglass 'cos it was very thin. I do remember it was kinda tight down there and I presume your feet are comensurate with your height. Do you use the knee pad things turned around to protect you from the springs? I noticed Webber was using a set on Sunday in the Red Bull, so you are not alone in finding those spaces small.
