Superleague off to China
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85053
If you haven't seen a map, this new circuit in what sounds like the middle of nowhere, but actually isn't according to Wikipedia. Then again, motorsport doesn't hold that much traction in China. It might be like the DTM race in Turkey that allegedly got 80 spectators or something ... |

they probably will have no-one turn up. but it's about creating a presence isn't it. it's a shame they couldn't get closer to a club they have involved but i guess it's just about demonstrating that they're serious.

I think Ordos in Inner Mongolia is one of those new cities they built for a million people and almost no one lives there. Saw some video on it recently.

Yeah - found this. If you want to do the Keynes style works project, it's generally best to try somewhere there are people. So the race is literally in the middle of nowhere. At least this is the sort of city where the teams or series would get a nice big cheque for turning up.

Very, very bizarre place to build a circuit. The organisers will need to bring people from somewhere for free if they want an audience.
Expect news regarding corruption scandal around contruction of circuit at some point. I guarantee it! P.S. You'd hope the SuperLeague people will know to ask for a big payment upfront. If not high percentage probably that they'll race and then not receive a cent! |

Surely if this was anything to do with Beijing Guaon, surely they should have held it at the facility near Beijing, rather than this track in the middle of nowhere. It's not as if there are many motorsport fans in China, and it's not the best supported football league in the world. Of course, if Beijing could have the second race, but I presume the series is getting money to go out there anyway.

Looks like a pretty crap track other than the final sector, which looks fairly interesting.
