British F3 Thruxton
Sorry about not starting a Spa thread but thought I'd get in earlier with a Thrux' thread.
After their brief trip to Spa the F3 circus is back to the UK the very next weekend. The race is "supported" by truck racing, surely that means the F3 trucks on their way to Thruxton from Belgium then Silverstone the following weekend. Is there a timetable yet? |

Is there only 1 race for F3 on Saturday? with qualifying on Friday? MST are showing a test session on Friday.

Qualifying is 905 - 935, the Friday bit refers to signing on and scrutineering.

nice one jim, thanks
i'm really curious about this one (admittedly mostly about the trucks, i love trucks), but more brilliant ticket pricing makes it simply unaffordable including the fuel to get there in the first place. |

There's a test going on today. The first session was dry, but the second is in progress right now and it's damp with slight rain.
I'll post some links in a short while. The fact that it's mostly a truck meeting means that the crowd will be bigger than usual for F3. Ironic fact. |

i assume they're using special tyres as usual for this one? how many sets do they get in total?

They don't actually get special tyres, although it has been known in the past for teams to run scrubbed tyres that have been through a heat cycle and therefore wear better even if they are slightly slower.
They have just two sets. Usually the first set is used in races 1 and 2 and the second set in the longer race 3. I'd guess that they use both sets in qualifying, but will find out. If it stays wet or at least damp, it will be a blessing in disguise, because I'd say the tyres are marginal for the long race. Track temperature is important. Here is a report on today's test and the times in full are here. |

For tomorrow and Sunday, here is where to go for results and also Live Timing if you click on the button.
Mike Hoyer said Qualifying is 'first thing' tomorrow (I can't find a time) and Race 1 is at 14:30. |

The (forecast) rain will probably have washed it all away.

Qualifying has been run and somehow Jean-Eric Vergne has done it again and put himself on pole for Races 1 and 3.
I'll post a link to a report soon, but in the meantime the results .pdf file is here. |

No team mate with which to organise a "tow" for each other around the fast sections on the far side of the circuit. Clearly in qualy there were a number of laps where teams mates followed each other on the far side of the circuit, then allowed the second car to pass before the chicane
