FR 3.5/wsbr Monaco 2011
for the 2nd time this year the World series by Renault Formula 3.5 goes to a FIA package, This time it is the F1 gang that these guys join up with and only one race this time by as well. and it is on those streets of Monte Carlo which means one mistake and the driver is out of race and could trigger the safety car. I wonder how many cars will hit the barrier next weekend

My tip for the race victory is Vergne

Tech 1 have a good record here, though it may be a bit much to expect too much from Korjus at what I assume is his first street circuit?
Previous winners: 2005 - Christian Montanari/Draco 2006 - Pastor Maldonado/Draco 2007 - Alvaro Parente/Tech 1 2008 - Charles Pic/Tech 1 2009 - Oliver Turvey/Carlin 2010 - Daniel Ricciardo/Tech 1 |

If ISR have enough to challenge Carlin or atleast get a little bit close then Ricciardo will be really hard to beat.

adrien tambay is taking the revolving door that is the second pons seat this weekend. should be interesting.
i'd like to see korjus win here too, though the sensible prediction has to be vergne. i wouldn't rule out a couple of surprise good performances though, particularly from the guys with the smooth driving styles in the midfield. |

In keeping with the trend, and my homerism, I'm taking Rossi, as long as Hartley is no where near him.

I looked it up, it was 2008, and it wasn't a big succes, he finished 19th. But he should do better this time. My favourites however are Ricciardo and Vergne this weekend.

I'm going to buck the trend here and go for perhaps a less obvious winner: Albert Costa. He finished third last year behind Ricciardo and Aleshin, he's had a very decent start to the season and that elusive first win is surely around the corner, so why not at Monaco? As others have said though, the main favourites have got to be Vergne, Ricciardo and Rossi.
I'll be interested to see how Stephane Richelmi goes as well, maybe he will be able to pull out a result in his home town? |

it's not normally this hot here at this time of year - it was 30'c this evening just down the coast from monaco, it's really humid. wonder if it'll make any difference.

Bella, what do you think of Rosenzweig's performance this event so far?!!
Ricciardo to the fore in practice so far though. |

re: rosenzweig, considering mofaz had a pretty good car at monaco last year - i think they were 9th and 10th or something at the end? - it's not as much of a surprise as it sounds!
let's hope they show the gp2 guys how to race and qualify responsibly this weekend... |

Group B : Rossi, Costa, Van der Drift, Move, Hartley, Grubmuller, Nebilitskiy, Richelmi, Charouz, Webb, Pentus, McKenzie, Tambay group a looks a bit harsh! it all kicks off again at 9am tomorrow morning. |

Wow tell you what Ricciardo just gave everyone an arse kicking there in group A! 6 tenths faster than Wickens who was 2nd, 1.1 seconds faster than Vergne who was only 6th and 2 seconds faster then Berthon who's his team-mate!

In theory, yes. Hartley was quite disappointed not to have edged out Ricciardo.

Great effort by both drivers - how many years has Hartley done in WSR?

Credit to italiaracing for getting a combined grid put up after qualifying. Pretty dismal situation that this can never be found on the official WSbR site:

the circuit doesn't actually rubber in as such, it's odd in that respect. there wasn't a difference in temperature or anything so in theory track conditions should have been pretty similar. in theory. if anyone's bored it'd be interesting to see who would have got which place if they did it based on everyones times instead of just the leaders! |
