Fire Cracker 400 or
Which sounds better? Fire Cracker 400 or Coke Zero 400. No contest. Why does management keep killing the traditions? I know why, but then, you wouldn't want to comment. So, sound off. NASCAR pay attention.

Same reason why a bunch of adverts are showing up here.
Other than killing off names that have always been associated with some races, NASCAR has made it work through out the years unlike some other national series, as much as I hate to say that and see it happen. But at what cost? The diehard fans have pretty much left along with some staple tracks, replaced by mediocre everything. There is still an appeal for me with big league stockcar racing but I'd prefer late model dirt cars 8 times out of 10 these days over the top 3. And yet, I'll tune in once a week to see what the good ole boys of NASCAR are up to; there's worse things in life. And the Firecracker/Coke Zero 400 will be followed by this guy on MRN ONLY in between fishing, BBQ and making stuff go "boom". Naturally, there'll be cold beverages involved as well, and you won't hear me complain much at all. America |

Raceline: Quote from today's http://www.nascar.com "With a lap at 182.065 mph (49.433 seconds), Martin, at 52 the fourth-oldest driver in the field, knocked the youngest, 20-year-old Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, off the pole for Saturday's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway".

Man what can you say about the finish. How many millions of dollars crashed for no reason? None. This is not racing. NASCAR get real.

The Gordon save was evidence for God. Tough for Trevor. Poor Edwards' tummy was upset. Would've liked to have seen Mark Martin do well too but of course he gets bitten near the end.
I enjoyed the Cale Yarborough segment. Can we not integrate some of the safety innovations of today with the look and some of the character of yesterday's NASCAR? Never mind. |

commentators didn't pick it up from what i heard, but they came in together, and AJ's left side took aaaaaaaaaggggggggeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss and the rest is history in a 2-car draft. Not too bad going from a lap down and 29th/30th to 10th/11th before Ambrose got tagged. All hail the lucky dog

"Earnhardt Jr. furious after latest frustration at Daytona" fm Dale Jr. hisself. My take on this is, he, DEjr. thinks this kind of racing at DIS is stupid. Well no kidding Dick Tracey. Anyhow a whole webpage written about this at just after midnite today can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/62ck7yy My full comments on this have already been written but, the article referenced is alot better than what I could pose. Enjoy the 4th ya all. By the way, the next Big NASCAR event is the Quaker State 400 from Kentuchy Speedway next Saturday July 09, 2011 @07:30pm, televised on TNT (usa tv).

Coke Zero 400 was awesome. If Sale Jr doesn't like the 2 car drafts, then he can go race somewhere else!
Brilliant racing and whoever made the comment about bonehead NASCAR. The last caution came out BECAUSE of that tri oval crash. |

Just finished the race last night.....
How bout some congrats for David Regan on his first win, peeps. For the Love! Kid stayed clean all day and was right where he needed to be with a teammate pushing. Good stuff! Now for the ugliness: STUPID STUPID STUPID nascar! Throw a yellow for Gordon's spin and hit nothing before they have the chance see what's going to happen (great save by Jeffy G, btw), then, lets wait until we have the second big one on the last lap to throw a caution, which means nothing by then; everyone was still on the gas going for the checkers and could care less about a yellow. Last lap or not, there is no consistency what so ever with these idiots and their yellow flags. There is too much want to throw a yellow with less than 10 laps to go. Their want to "create" a better is not needed in this type of racing; would've been a great finish regardless. Anyone notice all the fans standing up next to the fence getting a face-full of carnage? That looked safe. JR gripping after losing a plate race is a chip off the ole SR block. And no one likes plate racing when they wreck on the last lap...nothing new to see here. Not to mention, David Ragan and Trevor Bayne, no offense to Bayne as he's young but full offense to Ragan because we've seen over his career his talent or lack thereof and why on God's green earth does Roush still employ him, but this has to be the worst pair of winners in a season ever at Daytona (the year Cope won the 500, Earnhardt won the 400 before anyone asks). |
