2 Litre Super Tourers

Back in the day there was plenty of these in Aus and NZ.

Where are they all now. Does anybody know of any for sale in Aus or NZ as would like to buy one to run in classic racing

Cheers

The SAE car is in Europe these days.

Out of the 30 or so cars that ever raced here, there's probably less than a dozen still here.

There are a few in NZ, mainly BMW's.

Of the 6 ST BMW's, all in the South Island, 4 are brought out for a play most seasons in the Historic Touring Car class, one is about to be (having just been restored) but one hasn't seen the light of day for a few years now & the owner may be interested in selling it. You could try Bruce Miles at Miles Toyota in Christchurch.

Or Rick at Evolution Motorsport in Invercargill would be a good guy to talk to www.evoms.co.nz

I understand that most of the Aussie cars were mainly ex Europe however the Shedule S cars that ran iin NZ as 'NZ Touring Cars' were quite different to the European cars.

Wow I didn't know there were 6 BMW ST's on the south island. I've seen a real nice one on track at Ruapuna a few times that looks like a 1998 car or so.

We certainly do seem to be over-represented in those.

The line-up is:

Dennis Chapman #1 1993 ex Bigazzi / Paul Morris

Dennis Chapman #2 1992 ex Bigazzi / Paul Morris

Lindsay O'Donnell 1993 ex Bigazzi / Paul Morris

Mine 1994 ex Bigazzi / Schnitzer

Warren Good 1992 ex VLM(?)

Bruce Miles 1995 (not sure where this car came from)

The Schedule S cars were essentialy Group N+ or what became "Super Production" cars.

The Miles car is also an ex-BMW Motorsport Australia car, I'm lead to believe.

The Tim Harvey car is absolutely an ex-VLM car.

No not sure sorry. It was still in his shed about 4 years ago but you may need to give him a call.

There was a Peugeot Super Tourer for sale a couple of years ago in Wellington I think, as well as late model (1998?) Toyota of some kind ex Andy Rouse if memory serves me correctly. Rick in Invercargill would know more about this latter car, possibly also Brown Dog on this forum who I seem to recall knew something about it.

The Rouse corolla? ( this was the one on tradme along with the carina??)Was purchased by Kann who is running it in SS2000 next year.

I heard Kann gave it a rebuild and had its first outing at Puke a little while back where he managed 65secs which is tidy first time out.

There was also an ex South African Toyota Camry Super Tourer for sale a while ago in NZ - not sure what happened to that.

The Camry spent some time in Australia, but before that, North America in Rod Millen's hands. But yes, it's origins are in South Africa.

The Peugeot would have to be the Ex-Tony Newman car. I've previously read that this car and it's sister had a colourful history with the Australian Customs.

Here is some info on the Camry: http://www.nzracer.com/toyota-camry-...-the-shed.html

The "Trade Me" link implies that the car did not sell. Wonder how much he wanted for it........Just day dreaming!

(PS. The car pictured in my Avatar is my ex Julian Bailey Schedule S Carina that Bruce Miles ran in 94, inported in to the UK in the late 1990s, and which I now run in UK club races).

Found the thread with info on the Rouse car:

The Trademe link doesn't seem to work but the my105 link does.

That Rouse Corolla would have to be the most-travelled, yet least-used Super Tourer ever.

Was it ever granted homologation? I recall Mr Rouse having all sorts of issues convincing Toyota to allow it to be homologated.

maybe, but I'd bet you'd be welcomed with open arms if you wanted to race it at the Silverstone Classic (http://www.silverstoneclassic.com/Content/Race-Grids) or the European Touring car Series (http://www.hombre-motorsport.de/estcc-about.html)

I believe it may have been granted homologation back in the day. The guy who I sold it to managed to get a NZ logbook with the existing cage, even though it did not comply to MSNZ specs. This I believe was because it had previously been homologated. Anyway, it lives again and will be used in anger!

And here I was thinking we were going to start reminiscing about Super Touring. Are there any Laguna's anywhere? They don't seem to be around, not that I'm in a position to get one right now.

There's a Laguna, or at least was, in the South Island. Can't remember the owner though

Was it Nick Hill?

There's one Laguna in North America, and the odd one scattered through Europe, but besides the one in NZ, the rest were scrapped by WilliamsF1.

There's a laguna in the UK - I haven't seen it for a while but it did run a few times with a Clio cup engine & sequnetial gearbox in.

There is a Laguna in Auckland, reputedly Alain Menus 1996 BTCC winning car. Was stripped back to a shell some years ago and sold as parts in the UK. Someone then bought the shell, and all of the parts and reassembled it. Then sold to/purchased by its NZ owners, and brought here. Unfortunately they sit at home and polish it but never take it out
