Please can I have a sheltered post, out of the rain?
I'm still thawing out from Combe!

Will be there for my first weekend since my taster day back at the MSVR weekend. Not on the list of names but I'm guessing that since I have tickets they're expecting me.

To be fair I'm guessing it's because I don't have an MSA license and therefore grade yet.

Its most likely that you volunteered after the list was printed. If you have tickets they'll be expecting you.

QMN and the Cannons TinTops are also there for their second rounds and I'm able to make it this time, they better put on some good racing as it appears I missed out at the MSVR meeting!

Rain and Trucks. What's the worst that could happen?

Sadly I could'nt find it on youtube. Seems only to be about 5 years worth on YT and what I'm thinking of must have happened 15 years ago. There was quite a bit of colourful language on the video.

Who remembers Mickey Drake and a very wet truck race final? Actually, the first couple of laps were dry, then the heavens opened.

Post 3 barely survived. Most of the field just slid straight on. Into the gravel, the barriers, each other and very nearly, Mickey.

Play safe folks, I just don't get truck "racing".

Gosh, that must have been over 20 years ago as it was one of my early meetings as a marshal and I was on post 3 that weekend as well. Mickey called for a race stop and was over-ruled, the next lap several more trucks joined the one already there and said Mr Drake swore and went home.

shirley nut >20.
but then again it's been a long time since Mickey packed his bags, never to return.

Thinking about trucks and the worst they can do
  • parking on top of Post 6 Observer's hut - with observer inside
  • bouncing off D&G breakdown parked tight against the fence at the back of the pits (ie rolled up the slope at Post 8)
  • through the armco at Post 9
  • display truck taking out armco between startline and Post 2 (attempting to amuse crowd while armco being rebuilt opposite Post 7)
  • nearly getting to the tunnel after going straight on at Post7
  • numerous straight ons between 22 and 23
  • and many, many more acts of wanton destruction

remind me, why did I stop doing them?

Careful you dn't scare the newbies, there were the rollers in Paddock hill and Graham Hill and the Firetruck incident last October. I'm not taking pork pies!

You might need to scour the venue of pork pie residue. And check for that old green one lurking at the bottom of the bag too!

Pity a potentially good race programme has been ruined by including trucks on it! Perhaps they could to add in Double Decker bus racing as well, and to top it off a JCB race?

actually it is still a good race programme even if you hate the trucks .... with usually some great racing in the various other categories

Double Decker bus racing! Awesome! I'd pay to see that.

What did Boris do with all the bendy busses? They'd be spectacular too.
I hope JP reads this.
Just imagine, bendy busses around Paddock Hill bend!

They did bus racing on Top Gear...!

Was a great weekend, thanks to all those who helped with the incidents in the QMN and TinTop races.

A pretty splendid weekend overall really. Trucks were much better behaved than previously, Legends were mental as ever. Cheers to all on Post 4 for a top weekend. Next up - two days of 750MC

Managed to clip wheels with another pick up, impressive effort considering they are almost completely enclosed.
