FINANCIAL BOOST FOR MOUNT PANORAMA

FINANCIAL BOOST FOR MOUNT PANORAMA

Anyone know what this is for

$6.07 Million in total

I wondered if it was for the rumoured short track, but im doubtful
Mount Panorama Second Circuit Feasibility Study

i guess its for some circuit updates, maybe to First Aid

I know there are new grandstands this year, but i always imagined they were self funding, but maybe there is some initial infrastructure purchase

Debris fencing will end Pit Straight era

I wonder if this is what it is all about.

some more info

Quote:
The project will include resurfacing the 6.2-kilometre circuit; constructing a 2.5-metre safety fence along Pit Straight and other areas of the track; and installing a lift at the overhead pedestrian bridge at Harris Park
So this means the end of running on the track at the end of the race, Well at elast a significant reduction in it

Quote:
Funds will also go towards drainage work, lighting and sand-trap upgrades.

Does the track need resurfacing? It was only done 10 years ago...

Part of that article was wrong.

The track was re-surfaced before the 2001 race not 2003. The time before that was the 1990 race.

Your average race track surface has a 10 year life span from what I've been told in the past although Bathurst doesn't get the race traffic full time tracks do it does get road traffic every day of the year.

And according to a few locals is the only road the council maintains in the shire

Was at Mt Panorama on Monday afternoon.

All that historic old armco along the outside of pit straight has gone and replaced (for now) by large piles of mud.

I guess it's a matter of time before there is a concrete wall there and perhaps the dreaded catch fencing too...

For nostalgia, you would think they might build a beer garden and bonfire point for he bogans ,
" remember years ago , we would get ****ed , do burnts out next to tents, annoy any woman who came up her, burn cars, get ****ed and not watch any races, then brag we went to Bathurst"

Should have a nostalgic area to go and laugh at

That will take away the feel of the pit straight.
How about a concrete wall with the armco bolted back onto the front face?

Save that idea for the Bathurst 1000 revival meeting in the future. At this rate that's all we'll have.....

Pre-cast concrete panels with a armco design set into it to look like the stuff.

Or you could just do one big vinyl wrap over the concrete with photo of the old armco, grass and the like.....
