albert park should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Tough job for JPM

JPM will need to race until he is about 45 years old if he is to get anywhere near the records of MS. By the time MS retires he could have won about 80 - 90 races. JPM is already 26 years old and has a lot of young superstars coming along with him eg: Kimi, Ralf, Button, Sato just to name a few as well as MS himself driving as well as ever. This doesn't mean to say that JPM is not an exceptional talent, but MS records are never realistically going to be broken. Maybe Kimi is the man because he is only 21 years old. The future of F1 looks to be in good hands with these young guns up against the ageing legend who they all have to catch.

Lets hope for a safe weekend for all of the drivers and teams and hope that it is an exciting race to help take the horror of the last few weeks out of the minds of the Americans.

The flip side of this arguement being the realiztion that Schumacher wasn't often really challenged. If Montoya doesn't reach Schumacher's records, that's really no assessment of his talents.

He has plenty of time to completely demolish Ralf. That's the only record I'm interested in!

Humble pie, dudes, commin' right at ya!

moff, youre ok to me!!!

see it this way, ralf is no way better than his brother - i mean it took him (ralf) nearly 4 seasons to get his maiden win - a feat reached by Micheal in 1 season in an uncompetetive car and against mansell, senna, patrese and co. button demoralised ralf last year, montoya has grabbed 3 poles out of 4 races and ralf looks like the weak link...sorry IS the weak link again.
ralf is a very good driver, but it doesnt suit him to be way down the grid and move up like say DC, PDLR and possibly montoya. i think that ralf will be a WC, but hes gotta buck his ideas up soon.

I feel it is a bit early to talk about the records! I think he will do well and I would rather he only won the fraction of what Michael wins, but has great races along the way (in a Prost/Senna way!)

I'm with Adam on this one. To talk about records for an unproven driver with one win... well... wait till AGGY hears about this one.

It seems that his first battle is with Ralfie. If he wins, he can catch TGF.

One question... What's your deal with AGGY?????

See, statitics are just numbers.
The first battle is with rALF (bon, we are winning)... and then some will say the next is with Kimi... I agree the next will be TGF. time will tell
BTW, Montoya has entered in a special list, Racer who won on his rookie season (just 8 in there)

Another fact is that Montoya is up against a far tougher team mate in his rookie season than TGF has had in his whole career. For JPM to be generally out pacing Ralf in the second half of his first season is quite some acheivement.

the understatement of the month:

rubens to tgf: more like an insurance policy than a team mate.

jpm to ralf: more like an eviction notice than a team mate.
