Quiz Time
Question posed by Mr D.Addison.
If Colin Turkington wins the 2016 BTCC drivers championship, he would become the 3rd driver to win the championship despite missing a round of the championship (clue: taking part in qualifying doesn't count). Can you name the other two drivers and the year they won the championship? |

Having Spoken to Mr Addison this morning we believe it to 3 other drivers who have missed a round and still gone on to win the championship.

Sytner didn't miss a race in '88, unless you count Birmingham, which everyone missed.
Alec Poole missed the last race in 1969, as did Bill McGovern in 1970 and Win Percy in 1981. |

No idea, tbh. I looked at results of other races on the same weekend and he wasn't in those either, as I was thinking he might have done an ETCC or sportscar race instead. Strange for a works car to miss a round like that.

There was a Group A race at Spa supporting the 1983 GP. Not sure if it was the same weekend?
Soper and Joosen were entered in TWR Rovers and had a battle with Marc Duez in a local Camaro I think. Trying to find entries/results... |

The GP was the weekend before Thruxton.

Hmmm, strange one.
Can't have been Nurby ETC duty could it? Definitely in that race in the Hepo car. Or Le Mans pre qual or something? Seem to recall him entered in a Mazda? |

It won't have been Le Mans pre-qual. There was a World Sports Car race at the Nurburgring the previous day.
The Nurburgring ETCC race was nearly 2 months after Thruxton. |
