Mystery Car...

Please can someone help.

In the early 90's, just after the cossies were removed (excuse the pun!) there was a really slow mitsubishi who we used to call "speedy" whenever we went to watch BTCC. He was always at the back and I think it was the 1992 season, cos Gravett was in his red sapphire. Any help would be nice!!

P.S Any BTTC fans listen to Hawksbee and Jacobs or the Human Zoo, on talkSPORT?

Just wondered..

It was Mark Hales in his Mitsubishi Lancer and Galant.

Talk Sport!

I sometimes listen to Tommy Boyd, but more often I listen to Ian Collins on Talk Sport!

He is one of my most long-standing friends within the radio world, and I have worked with him on a CD project, just in the last couple of months......

Keen ears amongst race fans (that also listen to Talk Sport) may have noticed that he did all the voice overs for Rockingham Radio for Coys and for Champ Cars!

The car was the Mitsubishi Lancer at the beginning of the year. I believe it was extremely overweight and was the slowest and most unreliable car in the field. Eventually the Galant showed to be a better car but wasn't nearly as quick as the M3s and Cavaliers (the year was 1991). Also, the driver was Mark Hales.

A bit like Mark Hales is these days
He now writes for the "Cars and Car Conversions" magazine, and does the occasional bit of driver training I think..
