Chrysler-Oreca LeMans project over
As rumored for the last two months, Chrysler has officially withdrawn their support from racing partner Oreca. Oreca is now in negotiations with Judd to race their 4.0 liter V10 powerplant next year. The Chrylser-Oreca LMP900 finished a well done 4th at last years LeMans and was beginning its last year on the three year program to win the famous race.

It's a shame, KC, after just one proper year. (I don't think anyone really counts 2000 - just a toe in the water). After the way that ORECA served Chrysler so well in the Viper years, I had hoped they would give them at least one more year. I wish them well with the Judd, but reliability needs to be seriously addressed after the wholesale failure of the Judd units at Le Mans this year (albeit after showing much initial promise).

Also, there were rueports that Chrysler may make the Mopar available to customers through Caldwell, the tuner who prepared the works engines. Is there any news on that? |
