Tony Stewart to be at chili Bowl Midget Nationals
No Smoke Johnson this year. I guess Joe Gibbs has allowed Tony to enter some other races beyond his current NACSAR duties. Last year Stewart arrived late and raced under the pseudonym Smoke Johnson. He made it from the F Main up to the D Main before being eliminated. The Chili Bowl Midget Nationals is high on Stewart's lists of must win events. The mid-January classic will feature a Who's Who of dirt oval racing talent as it always does and will last for three days of qualifying sessions as the 200+ racers look to make the big show on Saturday night.
For those wanting to attend, unless you already have tickets all that will be available are pit passes as they sold out the 11,000 seats in just a couple of days back in November.
Let me know if anyone plans on attending. I will make one or two nights and probably the main event show. The race is held in the International Petroleum Expositon building at the Tulsa State Fair Grounds lower level. The track is 1/5 mile clay and dirt with shallow banking. All pit spaces are inside the upper level. The IPE building is larger than the Houston Astro Dome. I'll be there getting pics of the racers and action.
