Nielsen's New LMP/GTS and YGK/YR40 - merged threads

Autosport reports that John Nielsen will be handling the race programme for two new prototypes at Le Mans and elsewhere. YR Magic has commissioned LMP900 and GTS designs from the Piper International Design Group. The cars will be powered by a new V8, the YR40 (turbocharged in the prototype) designed by ex-Nissan man Yoshimasa. Nielsen plans to run one car from Barcelona in April.

And guess what, Piper International Design is part-owned by none other than Mr. Blobby himself. Is Mr. Edmonds having another go at Le Mans?!!

Actually I'm quite pleased, last time most people expected a comic outing, in the end it went very well. If the same levels of experience can be found then good luck to him. Noel has always liked Le Mans so I can understand another attempt. Like me, he would love to have his car leading the race, to win I would die happy, I expect Noel as well. Thankfully, it is perhaps the last major race that a one off racer can still win, even perhaps on a small budget, an untroubled run, Audi's crash into each other. Thunderstorms and JJ as co driver, who knows

Sorry for my ignorance... YGK / YR40 turbo : anybody knows what's that car ? Performance ? Look like (someone here with a link on it, or picture) ?

Last year, the pilots (J.Nielsen, C.Elgaard) where on a nice painted Dome (less efficient than Lammers one, but good look and nice sound).

Any information on that team (is it Den Bla Avis, on Panoz two years ago, if I can remember...) ?

Fab, I posted this one just before Christmas (that long ago? - doesn't time fly when you're having fun.....!). I've now merged the two threads.

I've heard absolutely nothing about it since. Has anyone else? Any pics available anywhere? If it is to stand any chance of running in April, it must surely break cover soon?

There are some "artist impressions" of the LMP900 car on http://www.spiritof.com.fr, once there select PROTO, and then, under ARCHIVE 2001, clic DECEMBER. On the day 19 news the piece about YGK can be found....

I succedeed, thanks to Fausto and Ayse, to connect ont this interresting site I didn't knew... a lot of informations comming from David Legangneux anyway...

Two things I red on the site :
- from the picture : the car is... looking metallic ! to far from a real car to have an opinion for me...
- a sad new : Dams could be off this year... pre-contract canceled with MG... I loved that french team - black cars remember ? - and hoped that they could do something with MG...

Anyway thanks for inforamtions Ayse... strange that nobody was interressed for December...

I know it's only an artist's impression - but that's one dull looking car!

Surely they must have built one up by now? Begins to sound like all talk and no wheels to me (but then again, there hasn't been much talk either!!).

With two cars in the entry list, I hope so for them...

Difficult to be at the level with a first entry anyway...

In this entry list, we can see french cars as Norma... I hope they won't be keep by ACO... what's the interrest of those cars ? I hate those damn names as Autoexe (name of the tunning firm of Terada) and Norma... means nothing... even Dallara... for me, they are still Chrysler... it speaks more to wide public...
