Key points of the contract, including his fee, had already been resolved. But he is unhappy with some minor details and talks have stalled leaving Rossi's future in doubt.
Taken from MCN...yes I know that it is not the most relieable place in the world
Some other not so defined things are wrong, and he will not test because he will have no insurance to cover if he crashes.
Due to that his contract ended in December.

Like usual, the press have blown this whole scenario out of proportion. Rossi will not leave Honda. This will be resolved within days.

The only thing Rossi will miss is perhaps some testing.

Rossi really is in a class of his own but is he really passionate about his "work" ? I get the impression that he isn't.Money is what drives him, but good luck to him, he is a very special person.

believe that one of the main issues was that honda wanted rossi to wear #1 in 2002, not #46.....

I'm with Rossi on that one. Most racers have rituals, have you seen what Rossi goes through when he gets on his bike? I can understand totally why he wants to race with #46. He doesn't want to change anything that might upset his winning formula, hope that makes sense?

Rossi just turned some extremely impressive lap times in Sepang, as well as Ukawa. One question is why Katoh on the NSR500 was nearly a second slower than he was 2 weeks ago? I would have thought this time around he would be a second quicker, if anything...maybe they were testing out new components. strange.
