Rambo should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Long Beach

I'm going over to see my brother in CA for a couple of weeks this year. I'm hoping to also go and see the Long Beach CART race while I'm over.

What's the parking like or should I take public transport, and if I don't reserve a seat, what are my chances of getting somewhere I can see OK?

Any hints, tips or suggestions for a first-time racegoer would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.

The good ol Info

The parking, is rediculous!! Public parking ranges from $45-$85!!! YEAH, no joke! Just take the Metro Blue Line (which is ok) and walk the 1/8 of mile to the track. Several stations have FREE parking and the train ride is $2.70 for a round trip.

The seats, there is only 1 General Admissin grandstand, which fills up in an hour, and GA viewing areas all on the front stretch and near turn 6,7,and 8 which is next to the convention center, very small and cramped.

What I recomend to you is, park at the Del Amo Station (Del Amo and Santa Fe which is next to the 710 freeway), and buy a reserved ticket. I would recomend grandstands... 24,27,30,31 which is on the front stretch and have a vision board near by. Prices range form $54-$64, which isn't that bad. General Admission is $40, so spend an extra $20 and get a guaranteed seat! Hope this helps you and good luck. Post a reply if you have any other questions!!

I've attended the LBGP for since 1977. Never have I paid more than $10/day to park. If you want to park right next to the venue you may end up paying the big numbers aforementioned. On Friday and Saturday there is a lot of free parking on the street available, provided you get there early. None of the lesser priced or free parking will entail more than a 12 block walk.

The LBGP is one of CART's better run events. This is probably due to the efforts of Chris Pook. I expect if you do indeed attend that it will be a very enjoyable weekend for you.
