Tom Chilton?

Is it true that no one can get a drive alongside Tom Chilton at Barwell motorsport unless his daddy will let them?

The situation is real my friend. His father is trying to make it easy for him while the rest of us have to struggle. Wait until he gets wing mirror to wing mirror with sum proper drivers

I totally agree, after watching him test on tues at silverstone he has got a massive amount to learn and to learn it fast, or other wise he's gonna get squashed...

If this is true its appaling, and he won't last long in the BTCC.

He might as well just paint a huge target on the car for the others to aim for.

I don't remember anyone declaring open season on Mr Chilton, so perhaps we could all cool off a little and keep our mouths shut until someone gives concrete evidence that he's doing something wrong. As for casting aspersions on his, or anyone else's driving ability, there's very little point in making any assumptions or rash assertions until the first race of the season. As they say "When the flag drops, the bull**** stops." It's not far off now, so we'll see what happens when we get there. Until then, all this driver bashing and character assassination is pretty pointless.

Maisie you're right. But I still can't get over the little situation @ Barwell and Tom's daddy...

What was it I was saying in another thread about five or six weeks ago ...

He should not be in Touring class. Production, like Boardman, OK. Touring, no. That is supposed to be the one they all aspire to.

When asked if he should have done Clios he said what was the point because T-Cars which he's raced are quicker. Give us all a break, Tom. That's bo**ocks, and you know it. You is in for one big scary ride this year. Hope Daddy's got you insured when Muller and Thommo are coming up to lap you ...

Very true Maisie, lets reserve judgement until at least the first race.

As for what his dad is or isn't doing, perhaps some of you should ask yourself where these stories are coming from. I'm sure there are those here with their own particular axe to grind. You shouldn't take everything you read at face value.

Markules should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi, I'm new, but this thread seemed like a good place to start.

Obviously this may or may not have any bearing on the the situation ar Barwell, but one of my flatmate's younger brother is mates with Tom, and apparently he does get spoilt. But in saying that, if he can't cut the mustard, he'll be shown up, as has been said above.

Anyway, nice to be here.

Welcome, Markules.

You're right Redshoes, let's wait until he's out on the track.

If Tom doesn't perform will he back in the BTCC? I think not.

I'm not saying he has no right to be in the touring class, but I think he will be a bit of a target as far as some other drivers are concerned. I hope I'm wrong and he gets a fair go at proving whether he should be there by himself.

i personally think that u r all jealous and should really consider wot u r saying because wen tom goes round the track u r gonna realise that uve put ur foot in ur mouth. tom is an excellent driver and has achieved a lot in a small amount of time. he has reached the position he is in due to his driving skills, barwell wouldnt hav chosen him if he was a bad driver. the fact that u can b so blunt and pick up on the smallest of details such as his mistake about the clios shows how immature u guys really are.

I think it's probably fair to say that most people here won't have seen Tom racing, I certainly haven't, so as has already been stated the most sensible thing to do would be wait until the racing actually starts before passing judgement.

Tom's racing is not all about money!! All the drivers in the T-Car championship have to have money coming in from somewhere - I don't think a 16yr old can afford several tens of thousands of pounds to race!! I don't think he'll be shown up this year, he has had hundreds of hours behind the wheel of a race car, and probably has just as much experience as many of the drivers in the BTCC due his extensive testing.

I think it's good to see a driver in the BTCC who has backing - we often moan about the number of the drivers who do not, so should we not be happy that a young talent has the money to help him succeed in reaching the pinacle of the sport?!

Good points Andy and Carrie. I agree with both of them.
