Morris got a flat tyre 5 mins before session ended, apparently did not get a fast lap in.

NASCAR seems to have worked this out. With 40 Cars at Eastern Creek
Twin 30 lap races on the with 20 cars in each. Everyone get to race and get TV exposure for their sponsor. Final with Maximum grid of 32 based on finishing position of the first race.

Points for the twin 30 laps and double for the final!

Or, AVESCO build larger pit garages on every track they use in[Most] of Australia ,put the hand in the pocket TC..

I think this is one instance where bigger is better! grids I mean.

DPJ, the space is there at the creek. There are about 50 garages.

It seems Morris was hit by Owen coming back onto the track at T2 and Morris then got the flat. Gardner was blocked or something similar.

The times were very close though.
Jones 1:33.0200

I agree that the system is a joke, but there are two people who we wont really miss anyway. Gardner has got 2 to many wheels under him to be fast and Morris has got to many cylinders and beter competitors around him in this series.

Yes, perhaps Paul could get Daddy to reach into his pocket and buy him another Super Touring Championship. Or slip someone at AVESCO a little cash to let him play.

No, I didn't hear it, but he is 100% right.

There isn't going to be as many cars as there is now (and no need for pre-qualifying) if they keep up with this system. All of the small operations and their sponsors will just pack their bags and leave. And then who loses - the fans. Case in point ... did Mezera even bother turning up for Eastern Creek?

The only place I can possibly accept pre-qualifying is Canberra - and they aren't even having it there!

Pre-qualifying is RUBBISH!

Really disappointing not to see a talent like Morris out there at the creek, this sport needs more guys like him.
I was at eastern Creek today, the go kart centre not the track, thank god and found out there is a go kart meet there this weekend, and i thought how many people after the first 2 laps of the V8 race leave to go down to go kart mee t to see some actual overtaking

Wait, at what race was Morris/Gardner/etc... told to go home? How many cars showed up and how many pit areas do they have? It's not Eastern Creek you guys are referring to right? How many excess cars have showed up at certain races?

Don't the AVESCO organizers have a few spaces reserved for them to allow teams to race under "special" conditions? Over here in NA, Nascar reserves the right to allow a few teams that don't qualify for whatever reason, to race. Usually, last year's race winner is guranteed a spot, even if he/she didn't qualify fast enough to make the grid. Don't laugh, it's happened before!! Is this fair, I don't know. What do you fans think?

Yes, they are talking about this weekend's Eastern Creek race! An excess of 6 cars seems to be common.

The thing you describe regarding Nascar makes a reasonable amount of sense. What AVESCO is doing doesn't make sense - which is what most of the discussion in this thread is about.

Romano copped a $50 000 fine.
There were no reports at all on Owen hitting Morris.
After this weekend the top 25 will go from race results, not top 25 qualifiers.

Another rule change? Arrgghhh.... does it matter?

On that, the following cars would have had to face PQ at EC:
Larkham
Romano
S. Richards
J. Richards
Faulkner
Forbes
Bargwanna

Who would have missed out in that lot?

the end result with all this is that sponsors will walk away from the sport, and OR dump the team that they are sponsoring and go to 1 of the "top" teams. We the paying public miss out.

Shazza?

He was planning on building a fleet of Future Tourers at one stage there... and from what I'm told, he enjoys racing FVees around Norwell...

If he had the talent you think he had he wouldn't be in the situation where he had to qualify in the first place. Sure, it sounds like he failed this weekend due to circumstances beyond his control but he also failed to qualify at PI.

Just because he dominated an uncompetitive field of Super Tourers held together by duct tape and chewing gum for a couple of years don't make him the God on wheels you're convinced he is.
