Ten Observations on Racing
10. The Lotus 79 was the most perfect car ever made.
9. Mario, Gilles and Graham trump Mikey, Jacuqes and Damon. 8. What Champ Cars needs next is an official team barber. 7. If Cristiano and Dario drove a two-seater, they'd still weigh less than Mikey. 6. Adrian, hold your head up; your double chin is showing. 5. Brack is not as good as Bruno. 4. If Chip never attends another Champ Car race, Target will win the Championship this year. 3. I'd love to be alone for 30 seconds with TGF and a Super Soaker full of really cheap perfume. 2. Put Juan Pablo Montoya in any kind of racing car and in two weeks he'd be first. Put TGF in any kind of racing car and in two weeks he'd be cheating. 1. Penske Who? 10. The 1979 Pennzoil Chapparal was a lovely copy of the Lotus 79
9. It's great to see Mario at the track every week, but I really miss Alex Zanardi. 8. Paul Tracy lacks the discipline to ever win a Championship, and Helio Castroneves is heading down that same road. 7. The road course at Indy is a truly uninspired design. No wonder tickets for the USGP won't sell. 6. Sam Hornish and Bruno Junquiera are two of the best young drivers out there right now. How I hope they get the chance to dice it up together this month. 5. Did you ever notice that Danny Sullivan will always make a point to mention that he won the Indy 500, but Rick Mears rarely speaks of his own accomplishments unless asked. 4. Something has always bothered me about Senna's 1994 crash. I can't put my finger on what it is. 3. Tora Takagi is actually the best Japanese driver I've seen. Of course, that doesn't mean much. 2. When Michael Andretti retires, Bruno Junquiera will likely become my favorite driver, unless he goes to F1. 1. I can't stay awake through a whole NASCAR race. I can't decide if I'm just getting old, or if the racing is just too monotonous. 0. What is Jon Beekhuis up to these days? Last edited by SevenGrain; 4 May 2002 at 07:38. |

10. I like aggressive drivers, who never give up and will always have a go at making passes (not the Eddie Irvine style of pass).
9. Just because a person can drive a car fast, doesn't mean they have to act like a ****er. 8. Does Jason Priestly's hair move when he puts a helmet on his head? 7. Jeremy Shaw looks like a XXX rated film director. 6. I still don't understand why it takes the whole month of May to run a motor race. 5. Giancarlo Fisichella is perhaps the most disappointing case of having talent, but also **** cars. 4. CART is not dead. 3. Alex Zanardi was ripped off at Williams in 1999. 2. Alex Zanardi is the epitomy of what a racing driver should be (and I wish he was still driving - but am eternally grateful that he's still with us) 1. I really want to be a racing car driver! |

10. F1 is the most boring motorsport in the world
9. Oval racing is the best form of racing 8. Sam Hornish Jr is the best driver I have ever seen racing in America 7. There are too many sportscar classes 6. Trulli IS just a qualifer 5. Giancarlo Fisichella has no talent 4. CART is not dead. 3. ASCAR is better than NASCAR 2. Alex Zanardi has way more guts than MS 1. No teams ever give Memo Gidley a decent chance |

10. Tracks like Spa, the ol' Nordschleife at Nürburgring or Laguna Seca prove who are great drivers, be for any series.
9. Tony George sucks. 8. I really admire Jeremy Shaw, I wish I could hear him during races like I did before. 7. The most beautiful car ever is to me the Ferrari 126C2. And with Gilles in and without the front wing, even better. 6. Senna and Prost ran in the same team with same cars; Schumacher has never ran with someone as good, neither has had the same cars as his teammates. 5. Tony George doesn't want to have a series, he wants to kill CART. 4. I'll watch F1 always, but heck, gotta have some passing someday, Bernie! 3. The IRL cars aren't as safe as the CART ones 2. Or maybe the CART drivers don't crash as much 1. I'm scared at the thought that if Greg Moore was still alive, he could very well be in the IRL now. |

10. The average "fan" in the US has never seen _real_ race.
9. There's no such thing as too much horsepower! 8. Rallying is the purest form of motorsport today. 7. Rally drivers are out of their damn minds! Especially the Finns! Tommi has _no_ fear and Marcus never blinks! 6. I have _got_ to try that! 5. Ovals are BORING! Hours of lapping followed by 20 minutes of panic! 4. Bernie Eccelstone may be the Antichrist. I'm not saying he is, but it's certainly possible. 3. I _really_ wish I'd gotten to listen to Murry Walker. 2. Factory teams will inevitably kill competition in any series unless a level playing field is deliberatly established. 1. Are we ever going to have a good fight in F1 or at LeMans again? On-track fighting with a podium separated by less than 2 seconds? Doesn't seem like it... |

more thinking from me:
10. Turbo engines, grounds effect... 9. Villeneuve, Nuvolari, Rosemeyer... true legends 8. Carlos Sainz could have 5 titles, but he NEVER has luck. 7. Why they keep making the road cars uglier? 6. F1 may be boring, but it's too powerful. 5. I've read many times that the Lotus 79 was the most beautiful F1 ever made, but I disagree. 4. I don't see Jacques winning again. I sure hope he does, but how? 3. When did they design the last great track? 2. Answer: about 20 years ago, the reduced version of Spa. 1. We might not like Schumacher, but boy, he is makign history! 0. Probably Schumacher drives the best car (F2002), but he's been developing it since he drove the 1996 F310 |

My top 10:
10. Greatest car ever built was the 1992 Williams FW14B coupled with the Renault engine. But even Deletraz could have won with it! 9. The 1970s were the greatest era for F1. 8. Franchitti will never win a CART title 7. Monaco should not be on the calender just for the sake of tradition 6. MV Augusta vs Honda in MotoGP - once and for all, let's see who is the best 5. WSBK will die because of the new rules in MotoGP 4. In my eyes, TGF is only a THREE time World Champion 3. Ronnie Peterson deserved to win a World Championship 2. Phil Hill didn't 1. At the moment, the best racing series in the world is the 125cc Motorcycle World Championship |

10. Nigel Bennett's 1994 creation, the Penske PC23, was a work of genious.
9. One cannot truly comprehend the speeds from television. You just gotta be there. Especially at a track like Michigan. 8. I wish Jacques was still in CART. Actually, I wish he crossed the pond, won the 97 WDC, and then came "home". 7. The Corkscrew is my favourite corner in racing. 6. I'm concerned about what the impending tobacco legislation will do to CART and some of its sponsors. Especially the Players team. 5. I love Michigan Speedway's BYOB policy. 4. The pushrod engine that Penske and Mercedes entered in the 94 Indy was the coup of the century. 3. None of my friends watch CART. Just NASCAR. Don't ask me why, stock cars are so boring. 2. Alessandro Zanardi was the purest racer I've ever seen. 1. I love the smell of methanol in the morning. |

10. A great champion has to have a great challenger.
9. The Indianapolis GP circuit leaves a lot to be desired. 8. Jenson Button does not deserve to drive a top f1 car. 7. CART should have an oval race in South Africa. 6. Danica Patrick is the best active female driver. 5. There's no 'i' in team. 4. Mika Hakkinen is one of the all time greats. 3. Sky Digital's interactive coverage of F1 is the best thing since sliced bread! 2. F3000 is becoming a waste of a series. 1. The FIA are too pro-Ferrari. |

Ban all electronc aids in f1... 3. ...and refuelling 2. Fisichella deserves a top drive 1. I havn't metioned CART yet |

Yeah, Hakkiman, what are you referring to?
I love Raven's tidbit, "A great champion has to have a great challenger." |

As macdaddy said, I too fear what will happen with one of the most loyal sponsors in CART, Player's...
The company that brought up Jacques, Greg, Patrick... will be forced to quit sponsoring, I'm afraid. |

"Jenson Button does not deserve to drive a top f1 car." - He does and is proving it this year.
"Franchitti will never win a CART title" - he can do it this year and he currently leads the series. "Walker Racing's 1999 car was the best livery ever in CART." - Luiz Garcia's in 2000 was better. "Sky Digital's interactive coverage of F1 is the best thing since sliced bread!" - I still prefer ITV's coverage. "The Indianapolis GP circuit leaves a lot to be desired." - its one of the better ones. Magny-Cours and Imola are worse. |

That's the nice thing about opinions. They are neither right nor wrong. They are opinions.
