Monaco Circuit (and city) in near future

This weekend we could once again hear the stories about the redesign of the Monaco track.
Apparently the pitlane will move to the lower area, the track at the lower area is going to be altered and all because Monaco is expanding into the sea and there will be more place to race cars on in what is now the harbour.

Did anyone see a trackdesign picture online already or can anyone specify WHAT is changing exactly?

My interpretation is that the track and swimming pool will both be moved back. It'll be basically the same layout, except for better pits and a slightly different run from Tabac into Piscine, and from there into Rascasse. The corner itself shouldn't change all that much.

Autosport had a plan a few moths back, from what I could see, it would be the same up until the middle of the swimming pool section, after the first chicane there would be a straight towards Rascasse, which would be a right hander instead of a hairpin.

I don't know if the plans have changed yet again though.

Must be tempting for the planners to put in a little overtaking opportunity - problem there is that we would have seen another Ferrari 1-2 with that!

Commentator on our TV said that the pits will be moved on the sea? He couldn't tell if that means they're gonna build something solid, or it would be something that floats just for the F1 weekend.

I thought I read somewhere that part of the harbour will be filled in.

Ahh yes. I have seen these. Yeah, they were thinking about eating into the second half of the harbour area with the new pits complex on the right after Piscine-1 (the other side of the swimming pool, if you catch my drift).

Naturally I say keep it the same. Plus which if we have a long straight down to Rascasse (more open, but still VERY tight) it would be akin to driving straight at a brick wall at 170-odd mph. Silly.

As long as it's no massacre like the abysmal Hockenheim remake, then I am happy - and opening things up a bit can only be good. I know alot of criticsm is directed at Monaco for producing dull races and no overtaking, but it's the jewel in the Grand Prix crown, and anything that begins to bring in into line with other venues is worth it.
