Damn. The weather forcast for this weekend's Canadian GP shows a chance of showers during the race. This is awful, as I am going to be sitting in an uncovered grandstand.
I am sure my sentiments are shared by the others around the world. . ...maybe not. |

Repeat this mantra after me, Jay...
Rain is my friend. It moistens the track. It helps good things grow, Especially the chances of an overtaking manouvre. I like rain I like being wet Bring the clouds Lovely rain Mmmmmm I'm like a frog Croak croak I like mud Ribbit ribbit We're all like frogs Ribbit ribbit We love mud And after two days of repeating this mantra over and over, you will find that two things will have happened. First, the weather gods will smile, and bring nurturing, sustaining precipitation across the whole of that poor parched race circuit, and secondly, some very nice gentlemen will come along with their white suits and their unmarked van, and take you to a happy new place away from all those nasty noisy cars. And I shall drink a toast to you from the comfort of my armchair, as I sip my beer, enjoying a nice wet Canadian GP as a dessert after a long weekend's Le Mans racing. I know I can count on you, friend. |

I should at this point say that I am a great believer in rain incantations.
I have, with my very own eyes, seen Peter Mallett conducting his own rain ritual on one occasion when he found that his wet tyres were more race-worthy than his slicks. I can only assume that he was not vigorous enough in his entreaties. The rain did indeed come, but only after his race had finished. |
