Jeff Ward wins !!!!!

Jeff Ward won the texas 500 in Chip Ganassi's target car at texas motor speedway in what was an amazing three way finish with himself , Al Unser Jnr and Airton Dare.

The race was an interesting one with some good close racing , and some surprising happenenings during it as well.

Hattori i thought did a very good job and held the lead for quite a while but eventually fell back to finish in sixth.

Tomas Schekter again proved he is a very fast driver but a clutch problem put an end to his day in a bungled pitstop.
Eddie Cheever and sam hornish Jnr clashed and both ended up hard in the wall , to which i believe the blame should be put on cheever because he clearly pushed up into hornish but may have lost downforce due to being right behind Buddy Lazier at the time.

not a bad race at all , texas nvere fails to deliver exciting racing in my books.

Too bad this race was only on ESPN, a channel not available in Canada. Needless to say, I missed it. Ward over Unser by 0.0111sec! Must have been a fantastic final lap!

Probably wouldn't have mattered much anyway, as I was watching the Stanley Cup game that went on and on and on...

lol , yeah they had the ice hockey on before the race here in OZ and it went to three overtimes , OMG i was getting annoyed LOL.
but yes the last lap was very good and Ward did it the hard way around the outside of Jnr, with Dare right behind the both of them.

I'm gutted for Scheckter, this was his race.

Some great racing between him and Hattori. But Hattori!? I was surprised to see him running so well, for so much of the race. Sort of have to wonder how much driver skill is required in the IRL to be quick in these cars.

Tomas deserved that race, but he'll win one eventually.

As they say, the only lap you need to lead is the last, and Ward certainly proved that theory.

I thought they'd never get round to showing the race because of the Ice Hockey (great game!!) but it was worth the wait.
