Tony Kanaan crashed out hard during today's qualifying session. He was knocked unconcious for a minute, and also suffered a fractured left arm, along with rib fractures and a partially-collapsed left lung. Fortunately though, they say he won't suffer from any long term effects.
So who should replace him? Supposedly they're considering Memo Gidley, Bryan Herta, and Alex Zanardi (oh wait, or is that my wishful thinking?). [Edited by Rachel on 17th June 2000] |

it was a hard hit but a strange one at the same time ...possibly his arm got tangled in the steering wheel.
Gidley would be a good replacement I think as would Zanardi...maybe they wont replace him at all and sit a few races out but I dont think they will do that ...gidley deserves a good ride so I think he should be the "super-sub" this year. |

Aren't the next few races on road courses ? Zanardi would be much more likely to step in if they weren't racing on an oval...

Well....it should be Zanardi the one to replace him. After all he was expected to do some races in Mo Nunn's car and now it's the perfect chance. Not to mention that it's much more easy as he doesen't have to put another car on the grid.
