What a pain in the butt

Adrian Fernandez was detained overnight in a Vancouver hospital following his late-race incident.

Terry Trammel:
"Adrian has a very severe bruise on his right buttock and an insignificant hairline fracture of the left pelvis. We are immediately starting therapy and rehabilitation beginning tomorrow in Indianapolis."

Fernandez:
"Obviously I am in a lot of pain in my hip and lower back. The impact of the crash penetrated the chassis. Having that Kevlar seat saved me. I was compressed inside the cockpit. It was hard to breathe and extremely painful. On the accident, Patrick Carpentier spun and Tagliani locked up. I hit him from behind. The track was blocked and my car went far right. I only remember Bruno hitting me at tremendous speed, and a lot of pain. It was one of those things."

Trammel will make a decision later this week on whether Fernandez will be fit to race at Mid-Ohio on August 11.

If I interview Adrian I promise not to ask to see his boo boo.

I wonder if his seat now includes a rubber donut?

If he has to miss a race or two, perhaps he can employ the services of Max Papis or Roberto Moreno, both of whom have been seen hanginging around the CART paddock.

And about the accident...
Kudos to CART for keeping with their promise and red-flagging the event. It was great to watch the race finish under green.

Likewise, great work in removing daMatta's stricken car without the use of a full-course yellow.

I'm glad Adrian's OK. He had me a little worried for a while there.

Yeah, maybe this'll be a chance to see supersub Moreno again. I really miss him.

If it was Tony Kanaan, he'd show me.

I wish we could get Max and Moreno a drive each too. Whom can we lock in the washroom?

Good news to hear Adrian suffered no substantial injuries. Still, it's an injury which does cause a laugh or two

if a doctor thinks its an "insignificant hairline fracture" why is there any question about him racing?
