BMW to concentrate on ETCC

BMW have all but ruled out a return to the ALMS with the M3 V8 or anything else for that matter, going against the comments made by the team boss of PTG. The German marque ar said to be happy with the way the ETCC is developing amd with 2 more brands and 10 more cars, the ETCC will be the premier european series. Shame about no ALMS return but good news for the ETCC

Of course they're going to stay!..... it would be rude to leave now that the rules have been "fixed" for them!

I thought the news/rumor was a bit purposely vague? I thought I read that BMW or perhaps just PTG left the door open for a team to race in the Speed World Challenge, in either the Touring or GT class. That would perhaps be a cheaper series as well as a less contentious one? Perhaps BMW plans to sell one or more of their ex-ETCC cars for PTG to downgrade and race in the series?

maybe BMW could get the BMW M3 back into the ALMS, then leave it to PTG to run independently.

Good news though, i agree, it would have been poor form to leave the series after they influenced the rules to clearly favout them

The Alfa Romeos were very strong at Spa and had no problem leading the two races (with Larini winning race #1), but then again, I assume most of you haven't seen the last two races (which were superb touring car races I might add)...

What many people don't (seem to) know is that Oschersleben itself is a track very suited to the BMW's, favorable rule change or not - which made the rule changes look a lot bigger than they actually were, since, as said, it was very close between Alfa Romeo and BMW at Spa. Volvo is still somewhat behind, but overall the makes are a lot more even now than at the beginning of the year.

Jörg Müller(Schnitzer BMW)said in Spa, that 'Super 2000' -ETCC Racing is becoming more and more fun for him. Of course the new regulations helped BMW a lot, but for the series and the fans it might be good. The race at the Ardennes-track was fantastic and I was happy, Larini (GTA Racing Team Nordauto) could win !

Yes, Enna is a fast track which is good for Alfa Romeo, but I hope Volvo will also be competitive, because Rickard Rydell is an excellent driver who deserves it.
