just check AL PEASE ... "Despite winning many regional and national Canadian championships in a variety of cars for almost 30 years, Pease had perhaps the most infamous GP career ever. Among other disasters, Pease is the only driver in F1 history to be disqualified for being too slow."

what about Otto STUPPACHER (b.1947-d.2001) ... "A hobby racer with experience in hillclimbing and sportscars, Stuppacher is famous as the man who couldn't make his first Grand Prix start because he had already left the country! His three entries saw him a total of 54.03 seconds off pole... "

One could lose themselves for hours in that site! I know I did! A great antidote for taking F1 too seriously.

It goes to show just how much success in racing depends on the whole package being right though- if you look at a lot of the guys listed, and look at their records OUTSIDE F1, it's not as if they were just lousy drivers.... |

i am on that site for the last 4hours ... and this is the best F1 i have had this year !?!?!?!
Great stories ... especially the ones from the 60's and 70's ! So many good drivers that didnt get a proper chance to show their talent ... Great job on the web site! Congratz to Enoch Law & Jamie McGregor |

I know this site already over 2 years and love it. It should be noted though that it is not about bad drivers but about drivers swho failed to score a lot of points in F1. There are a lot of excellent drivers on it (Dalmas, Badoer, Biondetti,...)

Hi all, I'm the webmaster of F1 Rejects, and I just wanted to say thank you to those of you who have made nice comments about our site here, and to NME for starting this thread! We appreciate the traffic! The site takes a LOT of work and it's good to know someone out there likes it, and finds it interesting!
Also, thanks to Borzacchini who correctly points out that we're not focussing on so-called 'bad' drivers (really, there's rarely such a thing in F1) but those who were for whatever reason unsuccessful. (By the way, we like to think we have some pretty articulate current F1 race reviews as well, so pay them a visit at Reject Centrale if any of you ever get a spare minute or two...) Cheers, Jamie. |

Your site is appreciated Jamie, it gives a LOT of information about the teams and drivers that didn't have the wins... Not everything must be Ferrari!

Thanks NME, great one.
They're currently covering Volker Wiedler. We watched his opening stint in the Mazda, at Le Mans, the year they won it. We saw the whole thing on a big screen. Picture the scene. It's Le Mans, it's the start, and its pouring down with rain. The Mazda has qualified well back from the front, and in the opening few laps, we watch it just overtake and overtake. It passes faster cars everywhere. It lines them up through the corners, and drafts past on the straights, or outbrakes them into chicanes. In one case, it follows a car closely through Tetre Rouge, pulls along side on the Mulsanne, then has to pull back behind 'cos the other car's faster. It sits in the spray the whole length of the straight, just inches behind, in the dreadful spray, then calmly out brakes it up the inside at the Mulsanne corner. Quite simply, some of the best motor racing I have ever seen. And afterwards, when he was interviwed by Radio Le Mans, he simply explains "I am a racing driver and I was sat in this wonderful racing car..." Fabulous. |
