i am pleased that Mo has entered a 2nd car next year, but who will be thw driver? since they will be using Toyota enegines, i think Allan McNish would be a safe bet.

I would love to see Jimmy Vasser or Kenny Brack get that seat. But Toyota owes McNish so they might lobby for him. If Mo leaves CART there might be 3 drivers in that series next year.

yeah it would be good to see McNish get the seat , he had a tough time last year but is still a very good driver and I think could do well in the IRL.
other than that I have no idea who might get the seat |

McNish would definatly be in with a chance, maybe Tora Takagi as well.

Just read on a dutch forum that Arie Luyendijk Sr. will take the seat at Mo Nunn Racing alongside Giaffone at Motegi and in the Indy 500.
According to the guy posting it was confirmed today. |

Good to see the two time Indianapolis 500 winner, the "flying Duthman" coming back to Indy. Good luck Arie

These two have worked before.
Remember at Fontana in 1997. After Zanardi had wrapped up the championship, he had a monster shunt in practice or qualifying on Friday. They subbed in Arie. He had a monster shunt on raceday. |

Marcus, I agree Luyendijk retires every year, but he is a fast driver on ovals. I was in Las Vegas for a bachelor party two years ago in May and Arie was getting 50-1 odds to win the 500. Since I am such a motor racing expert I bet $500 on him to win. He was starting from (I think) the second row which I thought made it a pretty good bet. I had visions of $25000 in my pocket!
After 5 laps he never broke the top ten - such a terrible waste of money |

Actually Arie has only retired once. Since he has somewhat unretired he has run Indy twice and Michigan once last year. He is still a heck of a driver but this series is just way too competitive anymore to just be able to jump in a car and expect to run at the front. Running Motegi will be a big help for him if it is true though.

Interesting decision, what happened with Treadway?
Who will drive the car for the rest of the season? |

I expect it will be a Toyota-contracted driver at Nunn, they haven't found a team stupid enough to hire Takagi yet, and McNish is probably understandably reluctant to commit to an all-oval series, his ability would be wasted in the IRL.
I certwainly don't expect 3 IRL cars, maybe for the 500, but overall I think it will be 2 in the IRL,a nd probably one in CART. |

Nunn has said he'd be announcing the second driver the first week of December. It's also an issue of whether or not he's going to have a CART program. McNish is also in the mix at Newman-Haas, but I expect that's contingent on Haas running him in the IRL and Haas hasn't said yet what he's doing, has Junqueira already in the fold and Tagliani's bouncing somewhere between Haas and Rocketsports. There must be some deal between Toyota and Haas to allow da Matta to go to F-1 while under contract to Haas. Guess we all hafta stay tuned right now.

This will be a third car deal. Nunn will have two full time IRL teams plus Arie. Still wondering where Tim Wardrop, Arie's long time engineer and G-Force stalwart, will end up.

Yeah i was getting that feeling, as Mo had originally said that it would be a full time second car.
If Arie is going to MNR, what has happened with Treadway Racing? |
