Nah...
Once the combined ACO/FIA regs come into play, I say let the teams competing count their top ten finishes of the year in either series. Enduros like Sebring, Spa and Petit LeMans will count for double points. At LeMans the following year, the top points-earners in each class will fill all grid slots, except for 3 invitational slots per class. Then the triple points scored at LeMans will be added to the previous season's total to determine the champion. Last edited by Lee Janotta; 23 Dec 2002 at 22:06. |

No Sportscar World Championship is worth it unless Le Mans is included.

But then you may run into some problems like there was in the late 80s, early 90s, with the ACO and FIA arguing and so on, threats of the race not going ahead and so on.
The series would also need to be proper endurance racing, none of these 2 hr 45min sprints. |

The FIA SCC would remain as a championship in it's own right, as would the ALMS, running their own events.
Every so often in the season, there would be an event that the two series "shared", and points would be awarded both to the FIA SCC cars, and the ALMS cars, counting towards the separate championships, but also points would go towards a WSC, and at the end of the year, there would be a winner in the SCC, ALMS and WSC. Say that in a race such as Le Mans, the results went as follows 10p 1.Audi (ALMS 10p) 8p 2.Audi (ALMS 8p) 6p 3.Dome (SCC 10p) 5p 4.Dallara (ALMS 6p) 4p 5.Lola (SCC 8p) 3p 6.MG (SCC 6p) Dome, Lola and MG would score 10, 8 and 6 points respectively for the SCC, but only 6, 4 and 3 points for the WSC The two Audis and Dallara would score 10, 8 and 5 points for ALMS, and 10, 8 and 6 points also for the WSC. |

It could be worse......
Debora have confirmed their ACO endorsed entry. The ACO building will be leased to a film company but.. Audi have announced a 10 car assault on Le Mans Bentley have Debora backing say's ACO. The new Le Mans circuit will be an exciting tight curve and chicane track aimed at what the F! people expect. Said Bernie SL |
