V8 Super cars times
Moffat and i had a ball around Bathurst on his ps2 the other day with the help of a few beers and we were wondering what is the quickest time you guys had for the mountain. So far, In the Ambrose falcon (manual) our quickest lap was a 1min 49sec. Excellent fun on a rainy day.

Which game is that AJ?
Does it annoy anyone else when game creators can't even make the laptimes realistic? |

Sounds like a clock smash to me! A bit like the old pc Le Mans game, where you could lap the full Sarthe circuit in about a minute and a half!

You play the game as some dude called " Ryan" . Moffy and I were just playing the " Free Race" portion of the game and stuck to Bathurst. The manual is definitely quicker than the auto, best time in the auto I managed was a 1.54 and I went straight thru the sandtrap next to the dipper!! The 1 . 49 was a perfect lap, though I do think I could still shave another 3 secs off with practice and more beer You are right David, it is a shame the lap times aren't more in snyc with reality. For example, I went around hell corner at 135- 140k ! Same for the last corner near the pits, hehehehe I put this down to luck, and finding the perfect line by chance. Apart from a few glitches, in the whole I thought they had done a great job of Bathurst, the car dynamics change accordingly as you climb the mountain and lift a front wheel over the bumps before McPhillamy and the rear end gets very light. The chase was very hard and a great buzz when you got it right, ditto for the dipper. I am so jealous of all you dudes out there who have raced the mountain for real. Need a co driver for the torana next year David ? PS What happened this year David, I was yelling out to the wife to come have a look when you appeared in the coverage. I was really looking forward to watching all those Mustangs and GTHO's on the tele, it was a major bumma the race was red flagged. Seeing all those classics bent was extremely distressing television IMO. |

AJ, during the race on the previous day, which wasn't televised, I used a lot of fuel and in fact ran out in the paddock area 100m from my pit bay and picked up some **** from the bottom of the tank, it floated around in the filter quite happily until I started weaving on the warmup lap for the Saturday race.
Oh well, as it turned out I didn't really miss out on much, some major panel damage perhaps? I'm told that Tony Cochrane and Malcolm Oastler were very unhappy about the redflagging and have also been told that it was Tim Schenken's decision. |

I was able to get down to a 1.44 or 1.45 in normal mode. Hard to get used to going round some of the corners so fast.
With Simulation mode on though i found it tough to get much under 2 minutes today. Did it in the GRM Commodore. |

The Canberra Circuit (the street course, no not Adelaide, that's cool) is a bit narrow!!!! I managed to smash up V8's there on many occasions, But love Philip Island.

from reading this the game seems a bit dodgy i havent tried it, only used the first version (V8 challenge) which seems more realistic on the times
