problem with a fuel line
you know the fuel line which attaches to the underneath of the fuel filter, well mine wont clamp on properly and keeps slipping almost off, letting fuel pour all over the place.
Anyone know of any problems like this, any suggestions ? its a Ford Fiesta. Its a new fuel filter too from Ford, one mechanic reckons the problem is the clamp thing itself. |

Two thoughts:-
1) Don't drive it until it's sorted (obvious really 2) It's probably the clamp, but have you compared the filter with the old one- Ford may have changed it somewhere along the line. 3) (yes, I know I said two...) This is why you should never throw a burning fag butt out of your car window, the guy behind you might have a dodgy fuel line.... |

first time i tried it, the car wouldnt start
opened up the bonnet and found out it had peed itself all over the floor. coming back from Ford, fired it up and give it a quick check, OMG it was a fountain under there! it will probably need a new fuel line with clamp thing, only problem is that i have to wait till Thursday for it |

We recently had an engine fire (another ford) on a friends car from this very thing, fuel line came off car stopped, first thing tried was to restart the car which resulted in a underbonnet fire.
Make sure its fixed properly its not worth the risk to life or property,I also recommend a fire extinguisher to be carried, you may never need it but you've only got to need it once for it to be worth the price. |

Just thought I'd ask if it's sorted yet?

had alsorts of problems trying to order it from Ford,
basically they are saying there are none in Ford stocks in the country. The pipe was overpriced IMO and their fitting charge would have been rediculas, so i was going to get the pipe and let someone else fit it (its the main line from the fuel tank, apperently the tank had to be lowered) Anyway all sorted now, my local garage chopped the end off and used pipe clamps around the fuel filter. oh and he did it for free |

Excuse my ignorance but I didn't think Ford put Zetecs in Mk 3s. Is it a home modification?

heh, they are very rare actually but its the same engine as the Fiesta RS1800. Its a 1994 L-plate (one of the last XR2i's). They went upto 1995 M, but they are even more rare.
The official power is 105bhp but thats rubbish, they are actually 120bhp in standard form. Only difference between mine and a Fiesta RS1800 (as far as i know) is the throttle body, exhaust manifold, front seats and maybe rear brakes as mine are drums. |

If you have a rare old Ford (anything much over 5-6 years if its rare) you should try the owners clubs for parts. Ford don't keep rare stuff in stock for long. You could also try this ford dealer http://www.pertwee-and-back.co.uk/ as they buy up older stock from other Ford Dealers.
