NC & Channel 7 Telecast
Today marked Channel 7's first coverage on the 2003 Procar Champ series. I found it to be a solid and very well put together show. It could have a been a fair bit longer or whatever but, I cant complain. I couldnt get enough of seeing the Nations Cup cars in the dusk with their lights and brake discs glowing it was awesome on the coverage. Race 1 was a little uneventful, but still ok. However Race 2 and 3 were absolutely brilliant and great racing. Pretty and Stokell in race 2 had an inspired race that sore them run side by side round corners 4-5 I think. Where in Race 3 it was a great race between Stokell Crick Richards and Bowe, Crick even set the fastest lap, which was awesome, seems he is coming to grips with the huge Viper. One guy that impressed me no end was Allan Simmonsen, forgot excactly where he comes from, but he was superb in the group 2 Ferrari, I think PHR should put him in the 2nd Group 1 Ferrari 360 GT for Round 2 at Symmons, it would be great and I think it wouldnt be a big staement to say that this guy would win races. What did you guys think ?

Yeah the coverage was excellent. The first race was perfectly timed for the sun setting. When the sun was hitting the cars coming down the straight before and after turn 9 ( the fast sweeper) was absolutly fabulous . Wonder what Symmonds Plains will be like?

Is it still called PHR? The guy in the lead Group 2 Ferrari Simonsen had a race suit with Trident Racing on it, who I thought were running the Maseratis

Great coverage, pretty much exactly the same as what we use to get on SBS but with commercial breaks - and unfortunately scraggy Ally Drower is still around.

I had to work and left the house at 5am so I wasn't thinking of the show or the vcr at that time of the morning.
Rossp from PROCAR said on his site that he thinks Foxtel's show Inside Speed is showing the series. Someone on that site is sending me a copy to watch. |

Inside Speed showed it last year, so i presume they'll be doing the same this year.
I thought it was done pretty well, still i'd love some same-day coverage or play every category in one go, but at least it's on free-to-air and at a regular time. Also pointless fact time - this keeps Channel 7's (ATN-7 at least) record of showing some kind of motorsport on TV every single year since 1960 (at least) |
