McKay has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
1998 BTCC Donnington

Was there any reason that the championship in 1998 only used the National circuit?

Didn't they use it twice? Once on the national, and once on the full GP? Kind of like they went to Brands twice - once on the full circuit, once on the Indy..

i like the national circuit, the final chicane is a great corner in my eyes. might not be action packed but i still thinks its good, some intangible quality!

Most years that is the case, but not in 1998 for some reason.

Why doesn't the BTCC use the Oulton Park international circuit anymore?

I don't think the long circuit at Oulton is used because fans arn't allowed down to the harpin by the lake, only to the harpin/chicane on the circuit they use now. So it's kind of pointless using the longer track if no-ones going to see the cars close up round that section.

They still use the long circuit (the one with the Shell Hairpin) for the Superbikes. It clearly doesn't affect them whether spectators can see or not. And I'm sure the VW Cup used it last year as well.

Last time the BTCC used it would have been rounds 9 & 10 in 1996 wouldn't it.

I don't mind the 3 layout's, though i'm glad they aren't still using the Fosters circuit.

Spot on Racer. If I remember rightly it was the meeting in which Kelvin Burt and Richard Kaye(?) trashed their cars.

Yes, definatly where Kelvin Burt had his major stack, and i'm pretty sure Kaye had his wreck there as well.

Also the round where Jo Winkelhock scored his first win of the year.

Definetly agree with you. I love how the cars hit the rev limiter on the island straight because the corner before that is a fast 4th gear corner so its a nice fast straight and another fast left hander @ Island bend into the hairpin, so it's definetly a little more exciting than the Island circuit. Still, both are better than the Fosters circuit
