First Time at Brands Hatch

The BTCC and CART meet next w/e will be my first event marshalling at Brands Hatch (and only my 2nd time at the circuit ever), and I have a few questions.

Where do marshals park? Is it the same car park as Joe Public, or do we get somewhere closer/more secure/better?

Where do we sign-on? Also, what times do we sign-on each day?

Do people meet for a drink or something after, like they do in the Tavern at Castle Combe? (Did I hear something about 10/10ths people meeting up?)

Is there anything else you think I should know about marshalling at Brands as opposed to Castle Combe?

Last but not least, I haven't heard back from BMP about marshalling this or any other BMP-run event yet. Has anyone else had a reply from them? I saw something about this on the other CART thread, where people said they hadn't received passes yet. If I haven't heard anything by Saturday, is just turning up on the morning the best bet do you reckon? If so, will my BRSCC SE marshal and car passes get me in to the circuit to get to signing-on or where ever I can find out if I'm marshalling?

Thanks for your help.

Phill

In no particular order, here are some of your answers.....
no tickets printed yet, hence noone having any yet. NO, no other passes/licenses will work. All marshals will have their details posted on Tuesday. If the tickets are printed then they'll be included. If not, a suitable location will be found outside the circuit at which tickets will be handed out.

Saturday night, Marshal's camping area (where ever that is), look for the caravan and awning flying the skull and crossbones any time after 7pm.

I'll have to leave the local questions to the Brands regulars as it will be our first time that far South.

p.s. do we need passports for the Dartford Tunnel?

If you're coming south, you don't go through the tunnel - you go over a bridge instead!!!!!!!!

Happy swimming!!!!

marshals parking for bigger meetings is sometimes in the field opposite the paddock entrance in scratchers lane, and camping in a field either the otherside of the m20 or racing green behind the hotel.

I'm told that marshals parking will be in two fields, both off Scratchers Lane (Opposite Paddock Entrance). For BARC meetings sign on is normally in the scrutineering bay in the outer paddock.

Do I take if from this that the marshal's campsite is actually outside the circuit limits?? ie, you need passes to re-enter the circuit?

Not at the following:
Mallory, Oulton, Rockingham, Donnington or any Speed Events.

The reason I ask is because one of our party is actually camping with us but not working the races. Will she be in a good position to re-supply us??

Crazystu, as you are not at Prescott for the first meeting of the but are going abroad to Brands...will you be sending a supply of Bud for the rest of us to drink in your absence?
Looks like we are going to have a bumper crop of orange for this meeting so send a BIGGGG crate!

NO !! but I will send, just as soon I as receive it, the fixture list for 2004 so you can arrange your meetings better!!

Also, on the subject of orange (which is a colour you seem to have lost), as I posted in another thread..........

Less is More!! It's never the quantity, but the quality!!

Tsk Tsk crazystu, you should get out more, me and orange are more aquainted than you think! Is it also true to say that we are all marshals whatever colour we wear? re BRDC, CART, the boys and girls downunder, rescue crew nationwide etc
On the subject of less is more...we are all agreed that numbers are dwindling in general and in that light we need as high a standard as is possible from those that do attend, however the more that marshal will increase their experience and as such standards can improve. As you and I know training is one thing but experience on the bank is where it all comes together and if that is under the control of seasoned I/C`s then we all improve by degrees. Basically marshals can`t improve unless they get there and do it, we all have to learn sometime...then when we have done that we should keep on learning evertime we go out to marshal.
