Franchitti, Montoya, and Tracy, another Crazy Canuck to shake things up! But to tell the truth it would be sad to see them any of them leave. I would rather see the top F1 pilotes compete in CART, that would be exciting.

I would have to say Franchitti, Tracy and Montoya.
They have all proven to be very good drivers, and are all probably ready to move up to the next, and highest level. |

Leave the CART guys alone. Why don't you ask for F1 drivers coming over to Cart? I bet MS would not be able to race in an oval, he does not have what it takes to do that.
Why any Cart driver would want to go to F1. F1 is boring now. The only hope of winning would be to go to McLaren or Ferrari (Ferrari if MS is not there because you are going to get a car that breaks in the race or is 2 seconds slower than MS's car, not MS's fault, "that's racing") Money? not really, Cart driver are getting there in terms of maney making. Lets faced, F1 is not what is used to be and the same is true for Cart, the difference is that F1 is going down while Cart is getting better and better. 2 more years and there will be Cart races in Europe (so they can see by themselves) how competitive and exciting is cart, just like F1 used to be only 3 or 4 years ago. To much drive-by-wire stuff in F1 cars. Just think about Ferrari being stuck behind a 2 secs/lap slower car. A series were Pit crew is more important than a driver is far from being an exciting series, don't you think? [This message has been edited by Ace (edited 29 April 2000).] |

Which would you rather have a ChampCar championship or a WDC?.
Besides the pitbabes are much better in Formula One. |

How would MS do on an oval?
He might stuff it in the wall the first time he goes out, but he would win the race by a lap! Although the speed of the superspeedways can be a bit surprising if your not used to it, overall any oval is a lot easier than any of the F1 tracks. If you think I am just an F1 fan promoting my sport, call a racing school that teaches both and they will set you straight. I must admit F1 has taken a turn for the worst over the past few years, and Cart races (with the exception of the 1 mile ovals) are generally much more exciting than F1. The reason any driver would rather win in F1 than Cart is simple: F1 is at the top. Whether you like it or not, the drivers in F1 are the best in the world. The fact that guys like Nigel Mansell, Alex Zanardi, and Juan Montoya can come over and dominate just shows it. Cart is the most exciting open-wheel series in the world with the second or third best drivers in the world. (F3000 is arguably better) |

Moreno was already in F1 and having a good season in Beneton until they kick him out to give his place to TGF.
JV has beaten the "Best drivers in the world" after graduating in Cart, hasn't he? don't get me wrong, F1 has a lot of tradition but is not what it used to be. Now, how about so many ex F1 drivers not being able to make it in Cart? A good driver is a good driver anywhere. Ask Mansel how easy was to drive in ovals (he never was able to master them). Now, take a look at Australia 94 when Mansel got pole 1 sec ahead of DH and MS. Go to laguna seca and you will know how challenging a circuit can be. JV said that after moving to F1 the main difference was the breaking while Cart was much more faster than F1. Have you ever been to a Oval race? |

Nige may not have mastered ovals, but it didn't stop him from winning on them...i think after he was bitten in his first ever qualifying run on one at Phoenix, he learnt how to treat them...
Gotta remember he would have won the Indy 500 had he not botched a restart... |

Nige won 5 races in CART in '93. Four of the five were on ovals, and he started two of those four from pole position. If you didn't get a chance to see it, his battle at Louden with Paul Tracy (no slouch on ovals himself!) is still considered to be a contender for the most exciting race in CART history. |

Read F1 Magazine (march 94) where Mansel give you his opinion about oval racing. Read again and tell me if I said he never won in Oval.

3 drivers from CART to F1.
Tracy - F1 needs that kind of attitude! Jimmy Vasser - an absolutely awesome no 2 driver Dario Franchitti - what a mix of nationalities. |

The expected venue for the British Grand Prix in 2002 is still up in the air as Brands Hatch vow to get the Kent track up to FIA standards and Bernie Ecclestone expressing his desire to keep it at Silverstone. However, more depends on the final outcome of this situation as the American CART series gears up to take the series to Europe. According to reports, CART would love to turn the Silverstone circuit into an 2.5 mile 'roval' with high speed corners that would require heavy braking for the Champcars, believing that an oval track could be easily built using parts of the existing road course. If plans do go ahead, it would be a flat oval with all left hand turns that would require lots of gear changes, much like a road course, to appeal to the European F1 set. With its steep tradition, a CART race at Silverstone, especially one that kind of resembled a road race, could be a hit.

I told you so. |

Which three CURRENT ChampCar drivers do I think could cut it in F1? Well, I can't count Montoya, Castroneves, or deFerran, so...
daMatta, Franchitti, and... and... Maybe Dixon after he gets some more experience. As far as daMatta is concerned, I have a feeling that he's gonna be in F1 next year. We'll see. |
