It'd be great to see Gary Paffett in DTM, although ideally I want to see him in F1. Enge would be good enough as well, and Janis will with some more experience. Maybe a good showign here will keep him in the attention of F1 etams, especially McLaren-Mercedes - Fisichella, Wurz, Brundle and Berger all did Touring Cars of some form before getting into F1, so, although not the conventional route, it can be done

Gary Paffett is replacing Patrick Huisman in the Team Rosberg DTM Team 24h Service AMG Mercedes.
He will start his first race coming weekend at the Nürburgring in the blue Mercedes-Benz CLK-DTM with number 24. I hope he can have some good races |

Why is Huisman being replaced? Is it b/c MB wants better results? DTM drivers don't need to bring their own sponsorship?

Maybe because he's British. Great Brittain is bigger market for Mercedes than Holland and there is already 1 Dutch Mecedes driver (Albers). Paffet drove for Rosberg team in F3.
I think also that the relation between Huisman and Mercedes is not 100% perfect. |

Garrey Paffet to DTM?
Englishman and reigning German F3 champion Garrey Paffet now looks like he could be in the DTM for the remainder of this year according to this weeks "Motorsport News" newspaper. It would be good for both him and the series if he gets the ride I think, after being left without a ride after Brand Motorsport pulled out of F3000 after 1 round he needs a drive for this year, the article dosent say though with which team the drive could be with..

With Team Rosberg, apparently (there are other threads dealing with this below). It's good that Paffett has a ride, but F3000 would have suited his career path better than the DTM. Still, beggars and choosers, eh..?

Yeah I guess so. Still though if he wins the DTM title within 2 years hed have more credibilty in my book than winning the F3000 title. The DTM has some truly top line guys in the series. Sure F3000 has them too but they arent quite as good as the guys in DTM if u ask me.

good for paffett, he already had a test with mercedes after his first f3 season and he did quite well, i´m a bit disappointed that he can´t have the f3000 seat, but if he does well he could get back to single seaters and if not, dtm is a good career too...

Further to what was said yesterday he has landed a drive with the AMG mercedes team. http://www.crash.net/news_detail.asp...8&language_id= His first race is the Nurburgring, this weekend. Nice one Garrey.

Fantastic news. I'm sure he's going to do realyl well once he's adjhusted. Don't expect too much at first, though, because he's missed out on a lot of testing. All the same, it didn't take Andy Priaulx long to be on the pace in the BTCC.

Or the ETCC for that matter. But then he did have testing before the start of this season. Im no fool, I dont expect Paffet to go in there and start winning, but I do expect him to go in and start scoring regular points, and next year if hes still in the DTM to be a serious contender for the title.

He is in an "old" Merc so don't expect miracles, but it's still excellent news that someone has come forward to help Gary after the Brand F3000 nightmare. Now, who's going to help out Robbie Kerr?
