I'm spending 10 days or so around Chicago and am planning to make the Gateway 300 the focal point of my holiday. Can anyone offer me advice or suggestions on going to the race, other things to see and basically advice on travelling in the Illinois. I've never been to the US before and am from the UK.
Yes, I wish I went to Elkhart instead, but sometimes the best laid plans...... |

Be aware it's a long haul -- 6 hours by car to St Louis. There is also frequent train service from Chicago to St. Louis. At least a 2 day trip. The Gateway Arch is worth a ride to the top. Get the paddock access at a CART event. You might want to try the trip forum at http://www.seventhgear.com for other St. Louis area recomendations.
